it's a 3rd person shooter and YES I DO I don't even have a 360 yet and I'm gonna buy that bitch Why would you buy a game on a system you don't even have? Hell, if you're buying the system much later, you can probably wait for a price drop or something, eh?

I thought the same thing but then again, I can't talk. I reserved and bought Wind Waker before I had a Gamecube so I could get the Ocarina of Time bonus disc. It was worth it.

Gamespot is unreliable..I can't think of an example right now but way too often you see
Reviewer score: 5.6 Your scores: 8
And the games been hyped to hell, they aren't going to give it a bad score, mind you it's still probably great I'll pick it up at some point.

While I don't think any one site's reviews are gospel, I don't think there's anything wrong with Gamespot's reviews in general. I especially don't see a problem when there is a discrepancy between reviewer's scores and the public's scores, since I tend to think the folks who buy and put up a score are bigger fans of that genre/game than the general public, which the Gamespot reviews are directed at.
That being said, I favor certain reviewers more than others in any site. For example, I respect reviews done by Gamespot's Greg Kasavin, as he seems to have similar tastes in games as I do and has clear impressions that give me a good idea of the type of game I would be getting into, if I am not familiar with them.

So this game is, uh, really good.
Not in that crazy hype kinda way, but REALLY good.
And jesus does it look amazing. I mean, some of the 360 games have been pretty decent looking - GRAW still being the best - but everything about this game looks incredible. Chews up everything currently on the PS3, and gives some faith that the 360 is more powerful than I really ever though.
More later, but Gears to be played, plus Guitar Hero and new House.

This game is remarkable. It's basically Freedom Fighters 2. I'm loving it.
No literally, they were like "Hey let's make a game that's Freedom Fighters and Warhammer 40,000 simultaneously."
It's awesome.

Why would you buy a game on a system you don't even have? It's not a bad idea in many cases. A game system tends to last much longer than any of its games do, and if not planning on owning a system for a while (to wait for a price drop, to wait for a "better" version of the system to come out, etc.), why not grab a game for the system that interests you before it goes out of print, so that by the time you DO get the system, you'll have it ready to play? Not that Gears of War looks like the type of game that'll go out of print and become a rare item anytime soon, but still...you get the point.

Another game with war in the title, how original. I'm sure this game is superb but its merely just a substitute till Halo 3 is released. I still believe Metal Gear Solid 4 will be the premiere game to play in this type of genre.

MGS4 is a completely different genre than Halo though. They're both military themed but that's where the similarity ends. And Gears of War is a LOT different from Halo too, Cliffy and all of them weren't actually making shit up - play this like you play Halo and you'll get killed right in the first shoot out. It really is a lot closer to Ghost Recon/Freedom Fighters, except with a bit more action and a little less commanding other guys, since they mostly seem to act on their own.

Yeah even one of the major Halo developers said Gears of War is more immediately strategic. Apples and oranges.
