store.steampowered.com/app/201810/Time will tell how this will fare (Could be just a COD clone, disappointment like Rage or a great comeback like ROTT or Shadow Warrior), but for now it looks really over the top. Some of the elements seen in trailers also remind me of Duke Nukem Forever, for better or worse. EDIT: Hitler better be final boss.

I'm hearing from palytests that it apparently is just a CoD clone, unfortunately.

If DOOM 4 comes out as CoD clone, that's when I'm gonna be pissed. But I was kind of surprised to hear that this was even coming out initially. Anyone my age or younger seems to forget about Wolfenstein. Especially when talking about DOOM being the first FPS. And I know Wolfenstein wasn't either, but considering the genre seemed to have been called DOOM-likes for a few years there....

While it may end up a CoD clone, none of the Wolfenstein games have been bad yet hopefully this one won't break the streak either. It'll depend how much they focus on the single player as I don't personally have high hopes for the multi. Disappointed that it's listed as $90 AUS on Steam getting real tired of being charged extra for digital downloads for *reasons*.

Its gonna be all a single-player experience. I'm not really sure if this exactly gonna be a COD clone based on what I've heard, for example the levels are non-linear and are large enough that you need a map.

From what you've just said you make it sound like an improved version of the recent reboot, which should make it rather good if they can get it right as it was a real diamond in the rough. My hopes are high.

What you define as a "CoD clone"? Regenerating health, tight limit on weapons, empahsis on aiming, heavily scripted and linear story mode that's only an accessory for a game mostly based on multiplayer. The health system of TNO will be a mix of the two formulas: sections that regenerate but after a certain damage are completely lost until you use some health pack. It was used, among others, in Chronicles of Riddick, not a surprise since MachineGames is apparently composed by most of the core team of that game (and the first The Darkness). There will also be no limit on how many weapons you can carry, like the 2009 Wolfenstein already did, and guns akimbo will be possibile with some weapons. And as noted, it's single-player only. We'll have to wait the release and see if there is really more exploration than linearity, if the difficulty is really higher than the average current FPS as some previews report, and if some things seen in the trailers won't be cut due to release deadline. But for now, are those testers really playing Wolfenstein TNO? Or does their knowledge of FPSes begin from Modern Warfare? In the meantime, want to see something really ridicolous? "Game sold separately". "sold separately" SEPARATELY.

Thinking again, it makes some sense because someone who may like the game a lot may be interested in getting that stuff afterwards, and they wouldn't need to create separate packages for each platform. But still, come on, a special edition without the game itself? Not the game in some cool DVD case? Also there are some collectors who care about that stuff and not the games themselves... oh wait, it makes sense again... @__@

Man, it's one thing to charge out the wazoo for a limited edition, but doing that for one that doesn't even have the game?
That's kind of a dick move.

Makes sense to me. Well, as much sense as limited editions ever make. I'm cool with soundtrack cds, but the rest of that shit would just clutter up my house even worse.

I've played the first three or four missions of this game and a chunk of the mid-game, and I definitely wouldn't call it a CoD clone. The first mission, which is a prologue, definitely gives a CoD vibe in its ooh-rah army buddy checkpoints, but after that it's pretty different. I don't know how the entire game will play out, but the third mission involves you sneaking around a large enemy outpost and taking out fortified bunkers and gun nests, capped with a roaming battle with two massive Nazi robots. It's pretty free-form and (up until the robots) can be more or less stealthed through. I like what I've played a lot more than I expected to, but it turns out the developer is comprised of ex-Riddick staff, so that probably explains it.
