forums.duke4.net/topic/7366-duke3d-sw-earlyalphabetagold-material/Thanks to Dynamo for linking it on IRC With the recent purchase of 3D Realms and Apogee by Interceptor, they've recovered tons of material. This includes discs filled with beta stuff for Duke Nukem 3D and Shadow Warrior. Think of Lameduke, but with different content. Lots of gold to be found here, including the 1996 version of Prey and who knows what else? They're planning on releasing everything to public too, including Prey if the Bethesda allows it, as long as they can manage to make up a working builds.

If they can find a playable Shadow Warrior demo from 1994...
I...
I don't know what I'll do. I might just cry.
This is a frickin' goldmine here, people.

I was unaware of these late developments about 3D Realms, although I read about what's happening around Duke Nukem: Mass Destruction. Maybe, just maybe, the character is cursed and is better dropped Wonder if they have some builds of Ruins, the game that eventually evolved into Powerslave/Exhumed, but since it was dropped by 3DR and published by Playmates back then, it'd probably be one of those games they cannot release anything about. I'd really like to see Shadow Warrior's setting and atmosphere as they were before all the Lo Wang crap. It was because of Duke3D's success that they decided to put crass humour in there too, I appreciated the game's weapons and maps but I really hated that, and the character was insufferable. I also didn't know of the original Duke Nukem Forever side-scroller until now. Upon gazing at the few screenshots I said, "this reminds me of Alien Rampage", and in fact it was changed into that afterwards. Edit: oh gosh, those old screenshots of Shadow Warrior. The art direction looked much better than the dull one of final product. What monster buried all of that in favor of Lo Wang?

They're planning on releasing everything to public too, including Prey if the Bethesda allows it, as long as they can manage to make up a working builds. Since when do companies allow for leaked pre-release content to be released for free to the public? I should remind you that for example the actual final version for Mr Nutz 2 MD was never released (a different prototype was eventually anonymously leaked) despite the programmers themselves wanting to PRECISELY because the IP holder doesn't allow for it. And companies like Konami are actively tracking pre-release content and shutting it down (like a certain recent incident with HG101, and so on). Let's be realistic...

Yes, Prey is a big maybe, but for Duke and Shadow Warrior they can release all this stuff if they want since they own it now.

Apparently they found the high res 3D models used to create the enemies in Duke 3D and Shadow Warrior buried in the archives! I wonder if HD sprites would be a possibility, or perhaps even use the models themselves for a HD pack?
