Wasn't this being dug up a few months ago? I remember reading that it was being dug up, then the dig was halted for some reason, but that reason was cleared up and they started again. I feel like deja vu here.

I thought there had already been numerous attempts to dig it up? I remember ClassicGaming.com discussing the landfill in the mid to late 90s, and I can't remember how many attempts there had been, if any.

I don't know why anybody even cares about this. What is it about a bunch of junked ET cartridges that people find so fascinating?
"We're here in the desert where Atari buried a bunch of trash."
*hours later*
"Yep, there's a bunch of trash."
Riveting entertainment.

A bunch of trash being filmed for an hour and a half. It's like the Transformers movies all over again.

Certainly felt that way.

That's just the residual brain damage messing with your sense of time. A common side effect of Micheal Bay films.

The last one was like 2 and half hours. I don't think any of them clocked in under 2 in all honesty.

I think Ike summed it up perfectly.
Earlier this year I decided to actually play this game. With a guide it's not...the most awful Atari game. I was expecting a lot worse, anyway. I was able to beat it pretty quickly, but again, with a guide.

I had to beat it without any kind of guide as a kid in 1983, uphill in the snow. Never did figure out Raiders of the Lost Ark on the 2600, though.

The cartrdiges themselves are not nearly as intriuing as the prospect of wacky forgotten Atari prototypes that might lay buried. I remember ClassicGaming.com discussing the landfill in the mid to late 90s You might be thinking of an April Fool's humor piece circa 2002-2003.

I don't remember the source but when Atari trucks were going to the landfill there were a bunch of kids in New Mexico who were stealing some of the cartidges. This was what I was thinking, as well. I think Hunger Games proved that nerds will absolutely lose their shit over ANYTHING now, so long as the media tells them they're supposed to. That's an awesome idea for a movie.

You did; you could try to switch controllers to do double duty but IiRC it isn't possible to beat that way. I can beat it, but only because my cousin showed me how to beat it ; how she found out Ill never know. I agree though, it's a seriously Unintuitive game and although is cool to try something different and ambitious, if it's not playable even when you know what the controls do then you failed as a game designer, IMO. Howard Scott Warshaw seemed to have a problem with making games like that.

What's this about using two controllers? The way I remember it you had to find the phone pieces, then the call site, then the landing zone. Or better yet, the landing zone first and then the call site.
