Was it Streets of Rage 3 that was significantly different from its Burning Knuckle counterpart?

A lot of konami and treasure games released in the us are much harder than the originals. Also konam has manuals with plots that do not even relate to the originals Radiant Silvergun US (the Titan one) has a dumbed down weapon system (just 3 weapons instead of 7), and is tougher. The Monica games and most of the tec-toy games are just sprite and text hacks, the gameplay is intact. Also they released some games in Brazil that were not released in the US, like the Yu-Yu-Hakusho fighting game.

Rushing Beat Shura =>The Peace Keepers. America got the shit end of the stick with worse graphics, almost no music, and much less continues.
Kujaku-Oh 2 => Mystic Defender. Originally, the game was based off of an anime title, and was the sequel to Spellcaster (Kujaku-Oh 1, technically) on the SMS.
Uhhhhhhhh... that's all I got.

If we consider that, there's also the Wonder Boy/Adventure Island, plus Saiyuki World debacle. Those aren't really due to localization though. Hey what's the deal behind Adventure Island/ Wonderboy exactly??

There are those Bam localizations of Taito games for GBC:
Elevator Action EX / Dexter's Labortory Pop 'n Pop / Yogi Bear's Great Balloon Blast Frontline / Sgt. Rock on the Frontline
Pop 'n Pop got the worst of it since the Yogi Bear version has only half the characters and ALL of the bosses replaced with ranger smith.
Some others I can think of:
Adventures of Lolo series (VERY confusing, different games share levels from other games and Japanese versions of a few have different levels with the same engine. The GB version only came out in Europe and Japan, with a ton of levels, a new intro, and new cutsences added to European version) Magical Doropie / Krion Conspiracy Mickey Mouse IV GB / Real Ghostbusters GB b/w game staring Kid Klown (forgot the name) / Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle 3 GBC (though the Bugs Bunny version with the color also came out in Japan)
As for Pokémon Puzzle Challenge, it was released with the Pokémon lincense in Japan under the name Pokémon de Panepon and there is no GBC counterpart of it without the Pokémon lincense. Same deal with Tetris Attack GB/Yoshi de Panepon GB.

To a lesser extent, I would suggest Biometal for the SNES for substituting a fine soundtrack for 2Unlimited. Also changed the names of the characters, apparantly.

I remembered another game that was altered for the US, Chubby Cherub. The original, Obake no Q Tarou Wan Wan Panic, had a duck as the main character, but the US version has a naked looking angel as the main character. Very strange alteration.

Anyone else think that maybe Metaknight is Lolo in disguise?

The Famicom and Nes Eggerland & Lolo 1 are different, but US Lolo 2 is part 1 in Japan and US Lolo 3 is part 2 in Japan. That's not completely accurate. The NES Lolo 1 is unique to the US/EU, but it uses levels from Eggerland games. Also, Lolo 2 US is based on Lolo 1 JP, but has a completely different set of levels. Same deal with part 3 US/part 2 Japan (Edit: I'm not so sure about 2/3 US using Eggerland levels. One level in 2 looks similar, but it's not exactly the same. I am 100% sure about the different level sets for 2/3 compared to their Japanese counterparts, though). There's also the MSX Eggerland games. The second MSX game is very similar to the first FDS game. Here are some websites with some info on the confusing history of the Lolo series: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eggerland_serieshome.nc.rr.com/charliebfinch/eggerland/

Hey brianc, have you considered writing an article about the Eggerland series for HG101? You seem to know pretty much about the series. I know a lot too, but I suck at writing reviews and the sort, therefore being unable to write the article myself.

I know a lot too, but I suck at writing reviews and the sort, therefore being unable to write the article myself. Well, most of what I know comes from other articles and the only Lolo game I actually have is Lolo 1 for NES. Also, I edited the last post becuase I wasn't sure about Lolo 2/3 US using levels from Eggerland (I do know that the second FDS game has levels from Eggerland Mystery in it, though). I really need to play the games thoroughly before even considering writing an article. I'm not the best at writing reviews either.
