It's true. For last year the game was Destiny. It reached some kind of logical event horizon with the number of people that both hated the game completely but still put like 500 hours into it. I think it will be MKX this year since a lot of fan favorites like Jade are gone, some people will hate that the stamina/running is back, etc. Still, despite some MK games being awful, I do respect that Midway is never afraid to change things up each time and this one+GGXrd are already the best fighting games this year unless like a King of Fighters XIV appears out of nowhere at E3 or something. Midway doesn't exist anymore. Its Warner Bros. now that publishes MK I think MKX looks to be the best in the series yet. And hell they have Scorpion. If they ever took him out I wouldn't play. Which is exactly why MK3 sucks lmao. UMK3 was good though.

I know Midway doesn't exist anymore, but figured I'd save time by not bothering to say "The specific people within Midway responsible for the Mortal Kombat series throughout the early nineties and aughts with and now NetherRealm Studios with MK9 and the upcoming MKX were not afraid of things like adding stamina to MK3 and 4 and then removing it for Deadly Alliance" along with an extensive list of roster and system changes because that seemed redundant since it's many of the same folks. I remember the promotional materials for vendors when they were selling UMK3 to arcacdes. It was basically "Hey guys............SCORPION."

That was more than reason enough for me...

Looks like the launch of the Steam version is going badly, with a pre-loader that gets only a couple characters and a high probability of crashing after the menus. It's like something went very wrong with the game's internal downloader. They say the rest of the data will be available later today but when you list the game as "available" since yesterday...

There's some DLC shenanigans on the consoles that everyone seem up in arms about, too, notably easier Fatalities. :p

Played several hours of the game already and it's pretty freaking fun. It's alot harder than previous games though which is kind of a bummer.
I am highly annoyed by the fact that Tanya and Rain are opponents in the game but not playable.
To me this means the characters are fully developed and in the game we are paying for but they are gonna sell em to us again later down the road. Not cool

Drat. Looks like us PC gamers have to suffer a bit of delayed gratification. Eh, I wasn't expecting to play it until after work anyway, but if it's still malfunctioning at about 6 p.m. today, I'm going to be more than a bit miffed. :/

The easier fatalities thing has me pretty pissed. If you CAN make them simple for people to pull off, it should be available to everyone at all times.

I'll be honest. I can see how it'd be annoying, but I think people might be overreacting just a little bit. For one thing, there's nothing stopping you from doing any of the fatalities the regular way, as long as you're willing to take the time to look them up. Two, you can actually find a few 'Easy Fatalities' in the game itself and buy them with in-game money. There's only a finite supply, true, but it helps.

The only thing that I could see as bullshit is if you used those to get an achievement/trophy that would have been tough to get otherwise. The Tanya/Earthquake thing is bullshit, though, although I guess on the bright side I don't really care about either character.

What's the Tanya/Tremor thing? Oh, what they'd said earlier about how they're in the game to fight against, but to be playable you need to get the Season Pass (kind of reminds me of the Shuma/Jill DLC stuff).

I think that's just to make the online play less confusing. If you remember MK9 had MASSIVE issues when the DLC started coming out (even with the costumes) where you'd have to download compatibility packs so that DLC data would be in your game. That way you could fight people that had ___ costume or character online. But it was super inconsistent and often required re-installing the game, deleting/re-downloading the DLC in different orders, etc. This way the stuff's already there since when each DLC comes out they can release an update so everyone has the required stuff. Also a good way to advertise the characters, like Rain in the arcade version of UMK3.
The Shuma/Jill thing was BS because though because they NEVER included them with the game even with Ultimate or its greatest hits re-release which is super lame.

Seeing as the legacy-gen versions are pushed back to June, I guess we can assume they'll be frame-gimped, unplayable garbage, and NRS/WB is just waiting until enough people have forgotten those versions are supposed to exist, and slip them out under the radar?
