You may now begin rejoicing! This has, of course, been hinted at, but it's great to finally get solid confirmation. I love Brandish and even imported the PSP game, so I'm really looking forward to playing an English version.

Yep, it's true! And for those who care, we also announced Corpse Party PC (the 2008 Windows version, known as Corpse Party: BloodCovered in Japan) and Senran Kagura Dekamori (to be renamed Senran Kagura Bon Appetit!) for Vita today. But Brandish is the announcement I'm most excited about, for obvious reasons. Game is awesome, and it's finally a Falcom game that I got to translate from scratch! So what's not to love? Trailer: If you've heard bad things about the SNES version, BTW -- or played it and hated it -- don't let that sour you to this version, as this is another spectacular Falcom remake. It's not quite as epic a change as Ys III --> Ys: The Oath in Felghana, but it's a more thorough update than Metroid 1 --> Metroid: Zero Mission, taking everything good about the first game, removing everything fans hated, and adding a BUNCH of new content, including harder and more interesting bosses and an additional 10 floors of super-challenging puzzles. -Tom

Wow, that took forever. I wanted to like the original, but the entire universe rotating around you gave me a headache. I'm also intrigued by the... hmm, art design. Yeah, let's go with that.

We should probably lock this thread before all the radical feminists pile into it. So... when's the UMD release?

I figured the PSP was pretty much a dead platform at this point. Why now, after five years? I guess it's still playable on the Vita, at least.

Oh yeah, the Brandish article on the site desperately needs some updating. I reread it recently, and it's unnecessarily harsh. It was also written before the PSP game was released - I added a quick blurb and a screenshot when it came out but didn't really sit down and play it. It really does address pretty much every major problem that the earlier games had, as far as movement and interface issues. Also ignore whatever I said about the music - maybe it's because I got the OST CD for the original game recently, but the soundtrack is pretty good, it's just more lowkey than typical Falcom stuff.

Great news. Some questions:
1. Is this going to ba a UMD release or digital only? 2. Do you plan to release a collector's edition with OST and / or other bonus content? 3. Any plans for European release? (though, if US gets some sort of collector's edition, I'm going to import that)

I know, I know. I'm cranky and bitter.
Actually, I have one up on most of you, since I actually have the Japanese UMD for this.

I'd love a UMD release as well, but I know it's impractical at this point. I'll take a digital release, though, as I've been interested in playing this for years.

Digital-only, I'm afraid. And we've made no announcement about an EU release thus far, but literally every single one of the other Falcom PSP games we've released has been released in Europe digitally as well, so I don't think you guys need to worry too much. Oh, as for "why now"... why not? We've been wanting to release this game for a long time, but other things kept getting in the way. Fans have been begging us for it nonstop, though, and we all absolutely love the game (our former president was thoroughly addicted to it), so when an opportunity presented itself to FINALLY work on it for reals, we couldn't pass it up! -Tom

Glad to hear this is coming out. Honestly never thought it would happen, let alone on PSP. Still grateful, though.

Loved this remake, easily the best action RPG I played. Now I get to enjoy it in English.
