I don't think Devil's Third looks that bad. Definitely needs moar Grindhouse filter though

it looks awesome to me, I miss those cheesy as hell Japanese action games from yesteryear and that game seems like it would fit right at home in that era
problem is, I don't have a Wii U

I haven't played Dark Souls 2, so I'm sorry if it changes everything I believe to know about From Software and I've jumped to conclusions unfairly. I can see myself understanding a case being made for Dark Souls as a great dungeon crawl RPG (understanding, not agreeing - my personal experience of the game was too much dominated by tedium), but a great action game, it is most certainly not. From Software games have the occasional spark of genius, but to me those seem very much like the occasional grains of corn pecked by a blind hen, and I haven't once gotten the impression that they actually know what they're doing. have you considered that maybe both bayonetta and dark souls are indeed great action games and perhaps just not paced to your liking?

A game where more than half of the playing time is spent simply walking around and backtracking can never be a great action game, that is simply bad pacing for an action game. It can strengthen Dark Soul's qualities as a dungeon crawler RPG, but destroys it as an action game.
I've just recounted many reasons for calling Bayonetta (and other Platinum games, but really all my points apply to Bayonetta, maybe the most of them all) a shitty game, and pace is not among them, so I don't even know why you bring that up again.

you're never "simply walking around backtracking" in dark souls

I don't care as much about the shitty character design here (and it is really shitty, almost as bad as a Metal Gear Solid game) Whoa there. I'm not a Metal Gear Solid fan at all, but one thing the series I think does right is characters. I really dug Revolver Ocelot.

Ocelot was cool to start with. Then they messed him all up with wackadoo arm possession and showing us what a putz he was when he was younger.

I've never been a fan of Itagaki or his games. But I still remain open to them.
Read up on this games multiplayer, it sounds really epic in that regard.

Or really, I saw that it links to actionbutton.net and I knew the worst is about to come.

All I saw was "text by tim rogers" and I decided to close the window immediately. Or really, I saw that it links to actionbutton.net and I knew the worst is about to come. Yeah, it seems the link is dangerous. So no thanks. Can you give us some main bullet points about what we could have read?
