Does anybody know about 2 player cooperative games that exist on the Playstation 2?

From what I remember Alien Hominid (side scrolling shooter) and Obscure (survival horror) both offer two player co-op gameplay.

The Champions of Norath games and the Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance games are both very good series for co-op. For 2-D shooters Castle Shikigami 2 and Gradius V are awesome. It's a shame there aren't too many more co-op games. Many of the companies have forgone co-op in favor of vs. Currently there is a trend to bring co-op back with Gears of War for the 360 and hopefully Halo 3 will have co-op online as well. Let's hope it continues.

Kuri Kuri Mix aka The Adventures of Cookie and Cream. Don't let the ridiculous US name fool you (AoCaC) it's a really well thought out game and if you manage to find a decent player to play with it's great. Kyouki is right about the two games he mentioned and don't forget Dynasty Warrior 2 >.

Guitar Hero II has a great co-op mode. One player is on lead guitar while the other takes bass or rhythm. Both Lego Star Wars games are a lot of fun with a second player. Capcom Classics Collection has some great co-op games, including Final Fight and Forgotten Worlds. In Street Fighter Alpha Anthology, you can team up against a series of bosses in most of the games. You can play through the arcade mode in Guilty Gear Isuka co-op. Also, Contra: Shattered Soldier, the Capcom-developed Gundam games (Federation vs. Zeon and Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam), Metal Slug 4 & 5 (though if you don't already have it, wait for the Wii anthology), and We ¢¾ Katamari.

Is Ratchet: Gladiator the latest Ratchet and is it fun? Because I'd consider picking it up since it's all cheap now.

Nobody's mentioned the Timesplitters games? TS:FP is good for co-op play (though the "jumping" that occurs when one player advances without the other can be a little jarring). We Love Katamari is pretty awkward to control, but the option is there. And finally, the Lego Star Wars games are practically built for co-op.

Yes, I think Ratchet: Gladiator is the most recent (unless there's a Ratchet and Clank 4 coming out). It's quite different than the rest, with even more emphasis on action than platforming than you could see in the other games.

Half Life has a co op mode. The newest Ratchet game is going be out for the PSP soon. I'm sure it will rock just like Daxter did.
