I played the PSP version and felt that this was one of Falcom's lesser games. The action isn't anywhere near as tight as an Ys, and it's too kiddie and easy for my tastes. Then you clearly did not play on Hard, and CLEARLY did not play on the insane modes above Hard. Gurumin can stand toe to toe with the best of them. The Zwei games can as well, if you do a level-1 run (remain level 1 for the entire game -- and yes, it's possible, and encouraged!). -Tom

I usually judge a game's difficulty by normal (or close to normal), but I found Gurumin has its moments in difficulty and level design. I remember the minigames being tough but I haven't really played those much.

It was in the first post, but I guess I'll reiterate - they're promising if you "Vote ‘YES,’ join the Gurumin Group, and tell us you voted Yes", you'll get the game free on release.

Game is out and I recieved my freebie. It's very cute, but an option for Japanese Voices would be a nice touch later, since some of the English VAs like lead girl Parin's kinda weak.
All the difficulty levels and costumes are available at the start, it seems, unless I'm forgetting anything.
I'd also like to point out that it's silly seeing the blue monster doing a now-decade-old para para dancing.

It's kind of a wonder that Mastiff even exists these days. Their output is so minimal, and not really anything that set the world on fire.

Mastiff mentioned on the boards that there were a few flags that unlocked stuff on default on the Steam version. So until the first update, the item list, Popon, most (but not all) of the costumes, and all difficulties are available at the start. Not a deal-breaker, just interesting. There's still stuff to unlock with the Gold Medals and seasonal settings.
The game is also locked to 30fps, and I think there's some random drops in the dungeons, but as someone pointed out, the game might be built around running at 30 or something.

Apparently I completely forgot voting for Gurumin on Greenlight long ago (it's long since the last time I went to Greenlight at all), so now I have a copy. Yay!

I completely forgot about this until just now too! Good thing the code still works. I was contemplating throwing money at the most recent Humble Bundle, but getting Gurumin currently requires a payment of about $7.50.
