www.hardcoregaming101.net/danganronpa/danganronpa.htmBoth Danganronpa games are easily the best games I've played this year, with the second outdoing the first even by those high standards. They easily justify the price of admission for a Vita. I'm not really sure how happy I am with this article, since I'm not sure if it encapsulates how much I love them. Part of this is due to the spoiler-y nature of the series, so it's difficult to discuss specific things, and they have to be described with generalities. I also really love the soundtracks, and my limited musical vocabulary makes it difficult to express how fantastic it is. Masafumi Takada did great work on Killer7 and No More Heroes, but these games have some of the best music that video games have to offer. Disclaimer: it's also not 100% complete! I'll be finishing it (probably) tomorrow. Just note that page 3 doesn't work since it's not done yet! Also to make up for my own disappointment in my article, I've included a small gallery at the end of the Danganronpa 2 spoiler section that illustrates some of the more obscure video game references. Someone on Twitter pointed out a list of all of the cultural references, though it's in Japanese, so I don't know if there are any changes, and even that was missing some. Chiaki apparently brings up F-Zero and Beraboman/Bravoman, and I know she mentions Jake Hunter in a trial, but I didn't screencap it. There are a few times where it seems like she's referencing something but I can't figure out what. Like this! If anyone wants to provide any screens to flesh this part of the article out, please do! Finally, I don't know how many people here have played it, but this is a series that works best if you avoid spoilers. This is serious business - anyone spoiling anything (beyond what's mentioned in the article i.e. the first two chapters of each game) will be temp banned. Use those spoiler tags if you want to discuss!

I really really wish this wasn't Vita exclusive. I want to play it so much but I really can't afford a Vita essentially for two games.

Uh, hi. New member here. I just wanted to say that in the SDR2 part of the article, whoever wrote it forgot to mention Koizumi in the cast list.

Uh, hi. New member here. I just wanted to say that in the SDR2 part of the article, whoever wrote it forgot to mention Koizumi in the cast list. I had her in my original draft, but forgot her because there was barely anything to write about her. One of the most boring characters in the game. Will add when I get the chance though, thanks for the heads up.

Updated this with a review of the spinoff, Ultra Despair Girls: www.hardcoregaming101.net/danganronpa/danganronpa3.htmI was pretty disappointed in this one - if I wasn't reviewing it, I probably would've given up sooner. The plot isn't good enough to justify the drudgery. Overall it's been getting lots of mixed opinions, I have seen a lot of people that really like it too. Anyway, I didn't put up a spoiler page since there's nothing really super shocking about this game. Kept the spoilery screenshots to a minimum, although just the premise alone already spoils some major aspects of the first game (and there's an appearance by a character from the second though not much about him is really explained even in-game.)

I'm enjoying this game so far, but it definitely feels flawed compared to the others. Thanks for pointing out the awkward mixed messages of the Kotoko events, that was so weird and I'm glad I'm not the only one who was confused by that part. I did laugh at the "by the way, I'm actually 18" line though.

Ultra Despair Girls has some Killer7 easter eggs like Danganronpa 2 had homage to Twilight Syndrome.
That's because Ishizaka (designer) and Takada (composer) worked with Suda 51 until NMH.

Do you know what those are? If any of them are major spoilers for killer7 then I'll pass for that (or spoilerhide them in some way) as I still have a lot to go for that, but I'm almost at the end of DRAE. So far the connections I've caught are: - The "head in a bag" thing - Some areas are very colorful and stylized, like the graveyard - Shooting the monokuma eyes' tiny weakspots is not unlike shooting the small weakspots of the Heaven Smiles.

No, it's just things you would recognize if you played k7 and other games before.
Like what you mentioned + some areas which look similar (in Danganronpa 2 one area looked like same place from Flower Sun and Rain)
