Heya, folks. I've read somewhere about a PS1 emulator that doesn't need any of those stupid plugins, but I can't remember what was its name nor its download link. Can you guys and gals help me track it down?

UME/MESS counts also.
As does the one built in the PSP.

XEBRA; scroll down to the bottom and click the screenshot. Fantastic emulator that's probably as close to a "bpsx" as we'll get for a long long time... and then some. Just check out the insane amount of options the GUI gives you! Supposedly he stopped developing it a while ago, but there's now an update from July...

I'm having good experiences with Mednafen; specifically, the Mednafen core of Retroarch.

Yeah, it's the most accurate PlayStation emulator, and the only one I would ever recommend. All of the games I tried run without ANY problems. The only downside is that it's closed-source unfortunately. Maybe Dr. Hell will release the source code after he's done with it...

Xebra's my personal fave. The only problems are lack of force feedback, having to do some noodling to keep SOTN from crashing, and having to wait for Dr. Hell to do updates

It seems pretty accurate, but it seems a little complex for my liking...

Open the "Run" drop down menu 4. Click Run. This will bring up the menu screen, allowing access to the memory card. To get out... 1. Open the "Run" drop down menu 2. Click "Close Shell" 3. Load an image and reset.

I'm willing to sacrifice accuracy for ease of use when it comes to emulation, but it's good to see there are options out there for a more authentic experience.

I'm wondering this too, thanks. It'd be handy to know.

It doesn't. You'll have to PrintScn or Fraps it.
