Would you look at that, the exact same day the article was posted the Gaming Hell guy (by his own admission obsessed with TNZS) posted a video on YouTube about the differences in various arcade sets: If only he made it a month ago I could have credited him, it's a very thorough analysis! In fact the game seemed to be very popular in Europe, the guy who made that jumbo strategy guide is Greek for example. Speaking of CJ, I only vaguely remembered as a name but I didn't know it was so similar gameplay-wise to TNZS, it could be interesting! Are there any other games like it?

I got Taito Legends Power Up for the PSP in the mail today, mostly for the Cameltry remake...and I noticed that it used the "Japan/World New" ROM set, making it the only version to do so. (The PS2/XBox use the normal Japan Original set). This video confirmed it too. I fixed that up and linked this video.

On facebook some NZ guy says that the environments in the game are fairly similar to real-life locations and also that the various critters are recognizable as actual NZ animals, and laments the fact that nobody from NZ ever talked about this game. But it's 27 years old now, why did they wait all this time?
But to be fair, I *do* live at the exact antipodes from NZ and never visited it, so...
