I think those are called spats. I know Chie from Persona 4 wears them. It's a common thing among tomboy designs with anime and Japanese videogames nowadays.

Erm Spanx, Spats are like things to cover your shoes.

Erm Spanx, Spats are like things to cover your shoes. No, they're biker shorts. For starers, Spanx wasn't founded until around 2000, and Alpha 3 was released in arcades in 1998. Aside from that, Spanx are generally shapeware, meaning they're supposed to slim your overall look, but invisibly from beneath your clothes.

I never thought I get into a pedantic argument about semantics with you, but I was correcting the idea that they were spats. Lastly, it's not like Street Fighter isn't anachronistic. I don't think C. Viper's cellphone existed in like the 90's. Of course now I can't remember where I came across the games being dated....

Well it wouldn't be anachronistic so much as prescient. And that's my mistake! I thought you were the one who posted the "spats" one as well as your correction. Oops.

Well really that could be a ton of characters, although she is maybe the biggest girl. But, that outfit and her thematic idea is just so weird. And it shouldn't be. I mean we've had wrestlers before. And the Dolls are pretty damn weird themselves. I see you're not familiar with Joshi. Weird costumes are just part of it.

Funny story: I actually know a female pro wrestler who lives in Japan, she loves cosplaying and changes her Twitter avatars a lot with her different costume pictures. She usually dresses as ugly characters and uses a lot of complex make-up. She's probably the most kickass mom I've ever known.

Another notable biker shorts wearer: Claire Redfield

Don't act like you can't hear it. I tend to go for the haughty hotties, so that's not a dealbreaker for me. That gif actually reminds me of another point I like about Karin's design: she's wearing biker shorts under her skirt. It actually LOOKS kind of stupid, but it lets her wear a skirt while not showing her underwear off to the whole world, unlike Sakura. Sakura is actually wearing bloomers, gym shorts. Another debunked myth is ibuki going commando:

No, no she isn't. I just fought her in USF IV and she is most certainly flashing her underwear. And I'm not proud, but I checked, she's always worn them. Red in case you're wondering. Always the same color which I thought was a neat touch.

Now we finally get to the meat and potatoes of any fighting game debate. Heated discussion of the female characters and their lingerie.

Well, I was just dissapointed that it didn't have its own hitbox. I think I just crossed a line...
