But Super Robot Taisen is more like SD robots, and Super Deformed doesn't exactly scream Giant Robots.

It flopped completely (it was released in the same year as SiN, Half-Life, Hexen II, Unreal and a ton of other heavy hitting PC titles) but try to check out Starsiege. It's spinoff series became wildly popular for a while; Starsiege: Tribes and Tribes 2.
Also when it comes to gameplay, Super Robot Taisen MUST be looked into. It's able to take giant robots from a wide variety of franchises and put all their unique attributes and attacks and weapons together into a cohesive gameplay system.

The DC Gundam game that everyone searching for is only subtitled; "Side Story 079" It takes place in Australia and is actually pretty decent, yet short.
Thusly, the name of the game is GUNDAM: Side Story 079

That game rocks.
The only other good Gundam games to make to the US are Federation vs. Zion and Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam.

The actual title is Mobile Suit Gundam Side Story 0079: Rise from the Ashes. Also: Can't believe Vanguard Bandits hasn't been mentioned. Also: There is a SRW/SRT game that isn't SD, it's Neo/Shin/New Super Robot Taisen.

MechAssault 2 for Xbox is like $6 bucks. The DS one looks pretty cool also.

Erm, that Gundam SNES 1 on 1 fighter. There's also a run and gun SNES or Gens game that I forgot the name of, I'm sure Steven would know it though.

And while Gundam Wing is one of the best fighters on the system, the Gundam G one is uber Shiite.

Gundam Wing Endless Duel is not just among SFC's best fighting games, it is, if you ask me, among the best fighting games ever. That "run 'n' gun" game, and I "" that because it is really more a 2-D action game, is Cybernator. It was sequeled with Metal Warriors ans was a sequel to Target Earth for Genesis. There are also two Front Mission games for SFC. And a SNES game called Mechwarrior 3050.
