...says some Japanese dudes! Stuff is here: www22.atwiki.jp/ff6_matome/pages/10.htmlThe pics are obviously Gamesharked, but it's possible that he's in the game code. One blog gives instructions (use the Phoenix magicite as Locke at his grave) but this seems to be unconfirmed. They found Gestahl as a party member too (as a class "ghost") but no one knows what the deal is, or if it's just photoshopped or what. Commence speculation! Also complain about stuff they should've added to the GBA port but didn't. There's still a ton of slowdown! Not nearly as bad as the PSOne version but it's still very noticeable with four party members. At least the music turned out OK.

It took all these years for them to start saying stuff like this now...as popular as Final Fantasy is? It's got to be bogus, just like that whole Aeris/Aerith deal in FF7...it took YEARS for that rumor to die down.
It can be done with emulation and graphic swaps, etc., but I doubt the game ever originally had that in mind. His death was meant to propel the dramatic story.
But it could be a nice twist for the advance game, but that would be an integral change...one that I'm skeptical they will go through with.

At least the audience has a right to know: According to some weird rumour, you can resurrect Leo in the World of Ruin with the Phoenix Magicite, this is of course not true, so don't try it.

For PS fans, there's also a rumor (and confirmed I believe?) that Nei can be revived in Phantasy Star: Generation 2, for the PS2 using save data from the first PS remake. On one hand it wouldn't surprise me with Leo, being a nice bit of fan service, but there's the questions of 1) Is it really necessary 2) Would it change things plotwise? No to each hopefully, but again, if it's just a bonus option, then so be it.

Meh, maybe you can just shark him in.

It can be done with a gameshark of course, just like Aeris. Now the game is pretty old and popular, so I'm sure somebody would have found the way to do it without a gameshark by now... I mean seriously, if they found those weird bugs and tricks for Street Fighter II... those are a pain in the ass to discover.
PS I'm also pissed the GBA has a little slowdown. Damn man, get it right already!

So... How about that Gilgamesh magicite Locke gets at the coloseum? You guys think it's true?

Oh yeah, the Gilgamesh at the Colisseum thing is definitely true. There's a video of it somewhere. There are a couple of new espers, like Sabotender/Cactaur, Diabolos and Leviathan, along with a few new spells.
You could definitely Gameshark Leo into your party in the SNES version. You could stick Kefka in there too, I think. Buddy as all hell, naturally.

Ack! There's already an FF6 Advance in the works? Blast... QUESTION! If I already have FF Chronicles and FF Anthology for the Playstation, who still recommends that I pick up FF4, 5, and 6 for the GBA?

I suggest it mainly because they're portable FFs, and for that one line in the first town.

If you have the Playstation version of FF4, there's no real reason to get the GBA version. It has better background graphics, but added slowdown and some new glitches. The translation is basically the same with a few minor touch-ups (nicer font though.)
The GBA version of FF5 is probably worth grabbing though. Much better translation and no loading screens make it better than the PSOne version.
As for FF6...I'd just see about getting the SNES version (FF3). The Playstation version has terrible music, tons of slowdown, and even more loading. The GBA version isn't really all that improved over the SNES game, and while the music sounds pretty decent, the slowdown is pretty annoying, although not nearly as bad as the PSOne version.

Still, the GBA is more versatile than even a laptop...

Grab the European GBA FF4 which contains no bugs or slowdowns. FF5 is great to buy too.

Ein volk, ein continent, ein PAL! Seriously, what's with developers and pushing their employees, then adding content to later releases?
