There exists a prototype ROM of the Arcade version, fully translated into english but missing the credits sequence. It was me who made the writeup for the Darius Wiki, and I also did an entry for the Villains Wiki: villains.wikia.com/wiki/VariaThanks, it was really helpful, looking for all the ending sequences would have been a monumental (and pointless) task! I played it long enough to get 20 or so endings. Most of them are just variations of the "hero saves the day" or "hero gets screwed up badly". There is a really weird/funny bad ending where the hero describes how an enemy is sucking up his brains. In the story where you meet Proco, he helps you the go back to Darius, returning after some stages after being brainwashed by the Belser (of course this all told by the text). You save him then after beating the game he joins Proco in the fight against Belser.

So, how does one get the Sybubblun thing working? As a huge Bubble Bobble fan, I really want to play that. Run the disk image in WinX68K High Speed, then load this save state: That's quite large for a savestate file. Sybubblun is a hidden extra in the Bubble Bobble X68000 version and not, afaik, on the Syvalion disks.

I've seen gameplay of the Arcade and SNES versions, but honestly I think the SNES version looks better paced. Gotta play this some day. But is the SNES soundtrack really that generic? I love the DQ OSTs. I don't know what game the author listened to. The original arcade soundtrack was limp and lifeless, while Matsuo's tracks are some of my favorites on the SNES. The first mission features a wild, over-the-top slap bass solo! Honestly, the best thing about Syvalion is the SNES soundtrack.

Count me among those that prefer the arcade soundtrack. I don't really like the SNES one that much; it doesn't really fit the game at all, IMO.

So you registered on this forum just to say that my musical tastes are shit? While it might be true, I don't quite get it.

I'm passionate about game music, man. The Soundtrack to Syvalion on SNES is a rather unknown gem which I'm grateful to have been turned onto. Your description of it as "generic and unremarkable" is so dismissive that readers are likely to skip it, and that would be a shame.

(I still dislike the soundtrack though)

I just noticed this has been mentioned on David Haywood's blog in September, and apparently we still have it the wrong way in the article? Did we accidentally revert to an older text version when someone (probably me) made some other fix while failing to redownload first?

It must have, the version on my hard drive mentions that it's part of Bubble Bobble. I reuploaded it (and renamed the old one syvalion-old).
I need to add pics of the Syvalion boss from Darius Burst in here too.
