About the SNES version: the Japanese version (published by Toshiba EMI) might have one of the longest publisher logo animations I've seen in a game (though I believe it was skippable), at about 30 seconds long. The PAL version (and presumably the NA version if it was released) was published by JVC and fortunately replaced it with a normal splash screen.

Always interesting to see non-roguelike randomly generated games that predate the current indie fascination with the mechanic. Can almost see someone making this exact game today. I guess In a Starless Sky was pretty close.

There exists a prototype ROM of the Arcade version, fully translated into english but missing the credits sequence. It was me who made the writeup for the Darius Wiki, and I also did an entry for the Villains Wiki: villains.wikia.com/wiki/Varia

I've seen gameplay of the Arcade and SNES versions, but honestly I think the SNES version looks better paced. Gotta play this some day.
But is the SNES soundtrack really that generic? I love the DQ OSTs.

I know I personally much prefer the original arcade music over the kind of junky 'this sort of sounds like space' stuff in the SNES version.

I love the DQ OSTs. It was produced by the guy but not composed. Then again, the composer, Hayato Matsuo has done some pretty decent work otherwise, like Ogre Battle, and the drastically different Choaniki games.

Playing the SNES version was difficult as all heck cause I got bounced around all over the place and could never really control where I was going. Would have really appreciated to be able to use a mouse there.

I would like to know if the maze/enemy placement is really random or if it's related to score. Bubble Bobble was thoroughly analyzed in every single part, right down to the circuits, but nobody did the same for Syvalion so I guess we'll never know. Not that I care that much, it's just for completeness of informations. There exists a prototype ROM of the Arcade version, fully translated into english but missing the credits sequence. It was me who made the writeup for the Darius Wiki, and I also did an entry for the Villains Wiki: villains.wikia.com/wiki/VariaThanks, it was really helpful, looking for all the ending sequences would have been a monumental (and pointless) task!

Was the English version of Syvalion included on Taito Legends 2? It must've been, right?

Yes it was and controls fine with a PS2 pad im sure it was the same in the US version though that version did screw up Bust a Move 2 big time.

So, how does one get the Sybubblun thing working? As a huge Bubble Bobble fan, I really want to play that.
