I just got some Monster cables for my XBOX.
I have 2 s-video in on my TV 1 I have my Gamecube going in through a tri system Cable and my XBOX through the Monster cables.
The picture though both is pretty good The cheapy cable looks just as good as the monster cable.
So my question to thee, Are monster cables just really expensive regular ass cables or do they really improve the picture like people claim they do?

Monster cables don't do a heck of a lot. They are generally built with high quality materials, but the only benefits to them are that you can have longer cables (while still maintaining quality), and that they are better insulated than regular cables from static, interference, etc.
If you don't have a ton of AV equipment, don't live near anything that could cause interference (radio tower? airport? I dunno), and don't have cables running from one end of the room to another, it's safe to go with a much cheaper but still decent brand.

One part where I would spring for more expensive cables than stock (not necessarily as expensive as Monsters) is for speaker wires, though. It really does make a noticeable difference in quality.

With my old setup, I had to run very long cables to my projector, and the higher-quality cables did actually produce a better signal. That was 20+ feet. With anything shorter, you're just handing over extra cash for no real improvement.
