www.hardcoregaming101.net/wildfang/wildfang.htmAbsurdly violent arcade beat-'em-up where you can summon a tiger, a giant and a dragon to ride on and take out huge enemies as a tiny knight, made by Tecmo (who would have guessed?) shortly after the original Ninja Gaiden.

Oh man the best is "Tecmo Secret of the Stars" Sotenga thank you for including how your mount can get killed leaving you as just the regular small dude. One time I got from level three to the beginning of level five like that. You can do it intentionally by playing around with how the trolls hit you since they tend to not be too strong early on and don't do any combos. It's pretty easy to get while fighting the boomerang warthog chestface guys at the end of level four as well. I wish game soundtracks could be as metal as Tecmo Knight's is today.

Wild Fang is an awesome game. How many games let you punch the heads off giant monsters and fight a giant ape while riding on the shoulders of a titan? Plus that continue screen is dark, man.
Tecmo Knight is such a stupid name, though. I'd rather stick with calling it Wild Fang. Much more interesting, IMHO.

No way man no one would buy the game unless they could look at the name and be like "OH MY GOD THE GUYS WHO MADE MIGHTY BOMB JACK AND BAD NEWS BASEBALL!!!"
It's definitely one of the most metal games ever made, I love the wannabe Black Sabbath/Dio boss themes so much soundtrack so much.
Also again I have to mention how cool it is that you can just run around as one of the knights. They're so tiny! Were they shrunk by magic? Are they normal sized but in a land of giants? The bosses are like ten stories tall by their standard! TECMO!
Despite how simple the fighting is it's one my favorite games because it has it all, even King Kong!

Definitely gonna check this one out with a friend. A couple minor errors here: Combat in Tecmo Knight may feel a bit stiff and lacking compared to its contemporaries, but it does at least have a unique mechanic with the ability to leap on monsters・heads and wail away while straddling them. Smokeman rains down punches like a schoolyard bully, and Tiger keeps rolling with its claws around a baddie're neck until it severs the head.
