Anyone here have any experience emulating on a 360? I know that the original Xbox is the preferred emulation console but I don't have and I do have access to an old 360.

I've never even heard of this happening. If you've got a wii the softmod is easy as all hell and could serve you if emulating on a tv is your goal.

That is the goal. I've seen some stuff done on 360s, but I'm guessing its still kind of new as there isn't too much info. And mots everything I've seen says to just mod an original since its easier to mod due to the 360 having more hardwired electronics that you would have to solder.
I do have a Wii though, but I've never messed with it. To be honest its just collecting dust right now so I might as try it. Whats the best way to do it? Is it SD based?

Yeah it's really really easy. I think I used Letterbomb? but there may be a new way to do it. It's as simple as getting the mac address for your wii (in settings) inputting this online, and downloading a file. Then you put that on your sd card and check the wiimail. From there you'd look up some (simple) instructions on getting homebrew channel up and running. I'd post some links but I'm at work rn.

What happened to 360 modding, anyway? I heard at some point that someone discovered zapping the CPU with a voltage spike would bypass some of the security features (not entirely unlike the old 10NES exploit that Color Dreams used), but it seems like nothing useful emerged from it?

It'll never happen I'm sure but I wish someone would make an emulator for the 360 itself, I haven't even turned mine on in years because I'm so scared it'll red ring, normally I wouldn't care at this point but one of my favorite games ever (Dead Rising) is trapped on it, meaning I'll never be able to fully leave it behind.
Of course none of that would matter if Capcom had just released the game on the PC, someone should tell them it's not too late! I mean if the REmake can get re-released on PC after all...

Anything referring to homebrew on this console is tagged as "JTAG/R-JTAG Xbox 360" or similar. Apparently you need to do some soldering and buy electronic components, and can only be done on certain models. Overall, it's easier (but no idea if "better") to get an original Xbox for emulation. I used to have one and it was fantastic.
Edit: But if you can spare that 360 you have then you could try learning how to do it and make it a project of yours.
