Konami is well known for its support of the MSX computer standard. Two Metal Gear games were released, a Castlevania game with some exploration elements, the definite version of Maze of Galious, some ports of older Konami arcade games, and a whole slew of exclusives like Treasure of Usas and Space Manbow.
As MSX was barely released in the US, there is still a lot of undiscovered territory.
What games are worth spending the time on?

Universe Unknown - Pretty cool homebrew shmup.
Daiva - Nice mix between tactics and shmup. Might be a bit overwhelming at first. Also, the cartridge version needs a tapedrive for saving
I also like the ports of Columns and Bubble Bobble, even though there are enough versions that are way easier to access than those.

Xevious: Fardraut Saga is probably one of the cooler ports of the game.

I have no idea if this game is as fun as it looks, but if so, I'd say this definitely qualifies, as it looks freakin' awesome:
Also, the MSX2 has a version of Falcom's Dragon Slayer IV (Legacy of the Wizard) that's pretty on par with the NES version (albeit without scrolling), but worth playing due to the differing music for Pochi's area and the different map layouts in certain sections.

It had the only version of King of Boxer (Ring King) that I ever found remotely playable. Though, that was my thoughts almost 20 years ago, so I may not remember correctly.

Had a copy of the US version M.U.S.H.A. The MSX and SMS versions have a few differences. Overall I'd say the MSX version is superior. Also, it feels a bit easier (as long as you have a controller) I haven't played the FDS version of Zanac, but in terms of MSX versions, go straight for Zanac EX. Plays the same but looks much better and has smooth scrolling. wyrdwad: Already any luck finding an MSX?

If you don't mind some real oldies, Ample made a couple of Lode Runner clones that does away with the digging. In Boogie Woogie Jungle you can shoot, even while climbing ladders, and in Super Drinker you can jump.
Stone of Wisdom is a nice Zelda clone by Casio.

Check out the Ash Guine series if you want some fun action rpgs.
Taito's Heaven is pretty fun too.

The port of Final Fantasy is interesting since it's mostly true to the original but with some minor graphical upgrades here and there.

I'm kind of fascinated with the MSX video disk system; in addition to ports of a few LD arcade games, there were apparently graphic adventures that used video footage instead of standard raster graphics.
