I define "So bad it's good" as "Amusing in ways the developer did not intend". I think that is a really good way of putting it. In movies, there are much more clear cases of this in my opinion, like the classic Troll 2. It definitely is amusing in unintended ways. Then again, some movies which actually intend to be cheesy and "bad" might not have that charm at all, like it's hard to like Sharknado. Thus, the unintenionality of badness is what makes them amusing. In this way, I don't assume that the creators of Virtual Hydlide set out to do deliberately cheesy cutscenes, the least-hero-looking hero or make enemies so freaky, but those amuse me nevertheless with their shoddiness. They have that charm. And as I said, I also have genuine like for the game; it's a fun game that actually plays well, I've completed it many times since the randomised world gives replayability and it's just the right length. This is why I'm hesitant to include it in this category even though it has characteristics that would qualify.

There are so many games I own that are "bad" or got universally terrible reviews/negative feedback. The one I always will love unconditionally, though, is Road Rash 64. It's one of, if not, the worst-looking N64 game I've played and the character animation is stiff; it's like the devs barely bothered with it. That said I played it for hours both solo and with a friend. I now have just about all the licensed songs from the game on my iPod. I pretty much like them UNironically at this point. Hell, even the Sugar Ray songs on there kick ass, and that is the only time I will ever say anything positive about Sugar Ray.

The only "so bad, it's good" game I can endure playing for the laugh is Zombie Nation and Cheetahmen 2. Unfortunately I can't say the same for Demolition Girl which is a torture to play even for 5 minutes unless I wanted to make fun of it by playing it for a YouTube/twitch video. That's why I can consider a friend of mine as a huge hero (or a huge masochist) for playing it till the end.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that likes DoA Xtreme 2. I enjoyed the volleyball itself, the costumes, and the admittedly thin interaction between characters. But I would have enjoyed the game more if it was structured differently. The game shouldn't have forced you to restart at the end of your vacation; it should have had an "endless summer" mode where you could just chill out, play volleyball, and unlock all of the costumes. The game didn't know its audience. It was structured like a hardcore game when it should have been targeted towards more casual players. Since I'm a Dragon Ball fan, maybe I should check out Dragon Power. Can I cheat a little and nominate a game that I haven't played yet? Clock Tower II: The Struggle Within looks incredibly horribad and I must play it. Not so much the game itself, but I nominate some of the monster sprites of Phantasy Star III. There are enemies that look like bodybuilders and attack by flexing their pecs. The animations for monsters was a bit limited... Seeing what wacky monsters were waiting around the corner was one of my favorite parts of the game.

Just because DOAX2 has incredibly simplistic gameplay and it's mainly an eye candy, it doesn't makes it a bad game.

Speaking of cheesecake games, I think Senran Kagura Burst DEFINITELY qualifies for this list, for both good and bad reasons.
The good: Solid beat-em-up action, a lot of playable characters, the more obvious assets (or rather, "assets"), another solid translation job from XSEED.
The so-bad-it's-good: The premise, the aforementioned "assets".
The ugly: Jesus fuck-a-ducking Christ, that schizophrenic framerate is barely forgivable---and only THAT forgivable because it never makes the game unplayable from a mechanical standpoint. It's why even though I LIKE the game I have trouble recommending it to other people---fanservice is a guilty pleasure, but technological incompetence is just plain guilty.
For a more straight example, House of the Dead 1 and 2 definitely count. Subsequent titles in the series deliberately took themselves un-seriously---whether this makes them "better" or "worse" depends on the viewer.

Since I'm a Dragon Ball fan, maybe I should check out Dragon Power. If you can, play both the US and JP release. The JP one is Dragon Ball as the US version removed a ton of stuff that was directly related.

Castlevania 64 is so derp that it's fun. It has skeletons on motorcycles. Skeletons. On. Motorcycles. More seriously, some of the music is great. The title screen theme almost makes me melt.

Kabuki: Quantum Fighter. Cause on it's best day it's a Ninja Gaiden clone with sketchy controls. However... the premise of the game is so absurd that my heart has an extra special place for it.

Best example I can think of is a little SNES game called Firestriker. Its a Breakout type game where you control a character that can run around the whole area instead of being stuck on the bottom. It tries to incorporate action elements with enemies you have to take out with the fire orb your bouncing around which works about as well as it sounds. Its pretty bad but it has this goofy charm that kept my friend and I entertained. I espeacially love its awkward localization.
-Generic knight storms into the throne room-
King: I summon you Slader!
-Knight turns around and bolts out the door without a word thus starting the game-
The second player controls the court wizard. Its like the king was all "He just took off without letting me explain whats going on! Wizard, make sure he does his damn job!"
Then when you get a game over the king coldly declares "You have failed miserably..." for some reason it just cracked me up. Fortunately he happens to have five 'statues of life' that look exactly like the hero and all of the other characters you'll recruit. I'm sure this doesen't sound all the funny to everyone else, just might have just caught me in the right mood.
One of the Spiderman brawlers I remember being rather cheap and boring. But thanks to its hilarious animations I remember it rather fondly. Just about everyone is actually animated rather smoothly but they also move in the goofiest and awkward ways. Like Venom just looks like hes skipping for joy when he jumps, all the grunts are dudes in hazmat suits that march at you with thier heads down like they just got scolded and my favorite: a mid boss who is dressed in a skin tight bright green leotard who attacks by pelvic thrusting at you to form a pink aura about himself. Bloody genius at work.

Lagoon, anyone?
And the original Brandish. One guy called it the "worst best game ever" and damnit, he just might be right.

Yeah, Senran Kagura Burst, despite its solid gameplay, looks ugly even for a 3DS game. Senran Kagura 2 from the other hand looks more impressive and improved and I'm going to buy it (never bought Burst and I don't intend to, expecially since the superior sequel will come out soon)

Senran Kagura Burst is first and foremost a pretty good beat'em up with it's own gameplay quirks, I love beat'em ups, so I am happy with it. I skip the fan service when possible, but it's so over the top and ridiculously unsexy, that in the end, I got used to it and simply don't pay attention to it. I like the visual novel elements of the game a lot, it's the detail that gives the game it's heart.
I wouldn't put it in a So bad it's good thread; I think the game is legit okay. The only, reason would be the fan service, but as I said after one day you simply stop paying attention to it.

I'll second Time Killers because of its ridiculousness but I'll also mention Last Alert. While the game itself is perfectly fine, the localization just... I just... I can't.
