I'm getting more and more games on mobiles... Even if I'm a fervent retrogamer, I think that premiums on mobile run properly. And if you find a support controller to play properly, anywhere you are, what is the problem? You have a lil PC in your pocket, why don't use it??
Personnally I bought to download all retrogames I saw, like R-type, Raiden & Double dragon.
I also saw Metal Slugs and it runs very good, I'll try them soon.
But, guys, sorry to say that, but beacause of their prizes and constaintly improving quality, mobile games will have a great future.

johnnybgood : Speaking of retro games (sort of), don't forget to buy the Cave shooters, they are incredibly good, and pure japanese arcade paradise. Also, yeah... mobiles may well become the new handheld consoes, it seems inevitable. But it's not for tomorrow, it will take time

And here it is: Final Fantasy VII has just been released on Ios platforms, quirks and all. It's still a 1997 game, and the upscaled graphics are... not impressive. Still, FF 7 oon a mobile platform is quite something, even if I recommend you rather get Chaos Rings 3, which uses the power of the recent mobiles to deliver a gorgeous and much more modern game.
See for yourself the pros and cons of this port of the most legendary of JRPGs.

For you Mechwarrior fans Walking War Robots is fantastic. Especially lately as the premium currency is easier to get, though with as much time as I've played, I didn't mind tossing them $20.

Konami believe that there is no way to revive the failing handheld market and that mobile and tablet will take over their userbase. The current generation - 3DS and Vita - will be the last. As good a time as any to ask you:
Do you plan to get a tablet, do you already own one, or do you play on your phone? At a certain point, a tablet becomes the evident choice for a gamer...

I think it comes down to standardized physical controls. I'd love to play Castlevania OoE on a phone/tablet, but it's neigh impossible. Google has the backend taken care of and so does Apple, neither has taken the next step and released a phone/tablet with dedicated physical controls.

And it's been years... but I think it will come one day or another; a standardized bluetooth pad. Then the games will really begin.. ; more than that, like a tablet with a pad and buttons like the WiiU's portable controller, is really hard to believe. That would only please hardcore gamers, and it would completely displease those companies' usual demographics.

I do believe that mobile gaming is here for a long time, though. I personally would deplore the absence of a Nintendo handheld. It would be the ultimate sign that mobile gaming has eaten the handhelds' market.

People also claimed at late '90s that PC would replace consoles. Well, not quite "replaced" yet, but PCs have been gaining traction in the video games market with places like Steam. On top of that, consoles weren't very popular in places like Europe, where the microcomputer scene was huge...

I'm on a Windows phone so the best I have is a Mahjong app.
But it's a really good app that keeps eating away at my productivity.

I, for one, refuse to accept our new mobile gaming overlords! But seriously, the handheld market is failing? But the 3DS is so fantastic. And I still hope to get a Playstation Vita someday.
