Whoops... guess I should've looked into it some more. Never had much interest in Megaman when I was a kid myself, (nor did anyone I knew) figured they might gear towards a slightly higher rating. I suppose it seems a bit likely now...heh. Still, given that it's Megaman, I've a hard time believing anything until I see it.

Oooops. I forgot that I that opened a thread for the new animated series. And yeah, the design looks awful.

Stuff like this is always hard. "The Batman" and "Beware the Batman" are both abominations in my eyes, but if stuff like that gets a new generation of kids into the franchise, is it really all that bad?

Well, Battle Network was a bad show with bland games attached to it, and that franchise made Capcom more money than Legend could ever hope to, being rather popular with the kids that grew up with them, so I don't see why not again. As an adult it'll be easy enough to ignore, I presume, Sonic Boom was easy enough to dodge outside the rogue news here or there.

From what I've heard the final product may not even completely look like that. What we're seeing is basically an industry packet that usually isn't shown to the public, but to investors.

It's not the same. These were different times without smartphones, where GBA was the cool stuff for kids and Capcom made a well-made Megaman spin-off franchise (with video games, anime, merchandise etc) to appeal to the Pokemon audience. And they did it right. Also it was the times that Capcom was still supporting Megaman with many, new, different games. Now it's the time where Megaman is practically dead since they stopped making new Megaman games for consoles, kids are now more interested into smartphones and for those who play consoles, their only touch with Megaman is with him as a playable character in Super Smash Bros for Wii an 3DS. Capcom only cares to support Megaman with shitty smartphone games in Japan, with merchandise to appeal to the old fans, with re-releases and collections and camoes to other games. This ugly-looking cartoon is just another cheap-made way to make money and in the best case they will release a F2P runner/action game for smartphones.

I am suddenly reminded of that awful side-runner MMX game.
...
STILL better than MN9.

It's how I feel when it came to a certain favorite of mine, though I'm sure you're aware of that by now (and no I will never put them on the same league as the non-mobile ones). Though I will say that at least Rockman is somewhat treated "better" than that franchise, but still it's definitely seen better days. Sounds like it needs a reboot or just die for as far as I'm concerned.

It looks like they dug deep into Deviant Art for that design.

So a step up from Mega Man Xtreme, then.

Still preferable to his design from Captain N.

They weren't that far off... The only designs that show got right were Kid Icarus, Bayou Billy, and Tetris.
