Zombies Ate My Neighbors lol. Dying Light looks like it could be the best ever, but I haven't tried it yet.
And I guess you're technically killing a lot of zombies in the Doom games, so them too.

Does Night Slashers count at all? Technically, the zombies are only small-fry mooks in that one, since you're also dealing with things like werewolves and vampires, but still.

I take back what I said about Left 4 Dead 2 being the best zed game ever. That position has been taken over by ZombiU for Wii U, and I would call that game a must-have for anyone with a Wii U.
Imagine Dead Island's melee combat and gunplay plus Dark Souls' difficulty and drop-loot-on-death mechanic plus Metroid Prime's scanning mechanic and you get somewhat of an idea of what it's like. I don't think any other zed game has gotten me so nervous playing it.

I'll put in a plug for Zombie Driver on Steam, which was surprisingly pleasant, if a bit simple. I may get around to Zombie Driver HD sometime.

Not a released game but this one looks neat. And of course more interesting than most, current zombie games.

I'm not so sure weeaboo-fied dungeon crawlers or cute-girl-ified anything is all that more ground breaking than shitbrown zombie FPSes at this point, though xD
Uhm... I did play the first Typing of the Dead recently, that was pretty fun. But it's already mentioned. I don't think I have another game where zombies play a main role. Well, one of the PS2 Oneechanbaras, but that one's pretty shitty.

Speaking for zombie girls:

DON'T COME!! DON'T COME!! Anyway, the original Dead Rising is probably my favorite. The beginning is rough when your underleveled, but once you start getting your stats and abilities, its great fun. DR2 and OTR were pretty fun too, but I didn't find Fortune City to be as fun as Willamette. Never played DR3, but the whole tone of it from what I saw looks nothing like how DR should be.

HE AINT MY BOY, BUT THE BROTHER IS HEAVY, GAVE AWAY HIS POSSESSIONS AND MOVED INTO A CHEVY...Despite frustrating moments like that, Dead Rising is easily my favorite zombie game, I spent hours just wandering that damn shopping mall, the game totally nailed the fantasy of having a whole shopping mall to yourself (well you and the zombies, psychopaths, cultists and black ops soldiers of course) and I actually loved how old school the difficulty was, it's especially ironic considering the 7th gen eventually became known as the one where most video games became easy enough for even babies to beat them. I'd kill for a PC port, I unfortunately haven't played the game in almost 5 years because I'm so scared my 360 will red ring, someone should tell Capcom it's not too late, after all if REmake could get a re-release on PC why not Dead Rising? (and hey, it's tenth anniversary is not too long from now, that would be a perfect time to do it).
