You know, people give the Doom comic a lot of crap, but honestly, it's incredibly accurate to the actual game itself. The only way it could possibly more accurate to the game is if Doomguy didn't talk during it, and that would just be a tragedy. I hope DOOM 4 (now just called DOOM because it's time for reboots or whatever) has an option to have every word he utters in the DOOM comic as a voiced monologue while playing. I'm pretty sure one of the first mods that will come out for DOOM 4/DOOM will be one that adds the taunt feature from Brutal DooM.

That would make sense since Bethesda seems to have added every other feature from Brutal DOOM to it already!!!

Blood for the Blood God! Maim! Kill! Burn! Maim! Kill! Burn! Maim! Kill! Burn! Maim! Kill! Burn! Maim! Kill! Burn! To me, every week is Doom Week. Me too. DOOM is one of the first games I remember playing. Stuck with me ever since

Happy DOOM week!
First time I tried DOOM was at a friend's house. My PC at the time could not run the game (386 16Mhz), and I remember my friend saying "you gotta see this new game I've been playing." I was blown away at how real it looked.
DOOM has aged so well, and is still a blast to play. It sounds amazing on a Sound Canvas, and looks great even (especially) in vanilla VGA mode... on a CRT of course.
This is the one game that I probably play at least once a year, and it never gets old.

I can't wait for that new DOOM, I love how it looks like almost the exact same style gameplay and even level design of 1 and 2 but just with modern graphics.
That's all you need man.

The sound effects of these games a figuratively tattooed on my brain, which is always jarring since none of em are copyrighted. Hearing elephant seals make the same grunts as the imps bewildered me something fierce.

Happy DOOM week! My first experience with DOOM was exactly twenty years ago, at my cousin's house. We were already familiar with Wolfenstein 3D and Blake Stone but DOOM caught us by surprise. We simply couldn't believe a computer could handle those graphics. And of course after a while it was DOOM ][: HELL ON EARTH's turn - speaking of which, The Healer Stalks is perhaps my all-time favorite DOOM BGM thanks to how out of place it sounds... I mean, there are a lot of musical genres that can be associated with space marines battling demons, but I doubt samba is one of them.

Can all you experienced DOOM fans here help me out? I'm stuck on DOOM 1's E2M4, and I can already see the EXIT door, but I can't find a way to get into the teleport/level clear room! The two teleporters in the room it is located at take me to the a room I've already been at, and IIRC I got every item and humped every single wall on the stage...

There's a switch in that last room you're neglecting.
But yeah, my favorite games ever. I binge every Christmas season when Doomworld posts the new Cacowards and catch up on all the new stuff.

Today is Sunday, the third day and day of rest, of DOOM week. Today I'm going to not only play DOOM a lot but also contemplate the major life events that lead me to this state of DOOM inspired ecstasy.
Early on in high school, I was sick for a while. I actually had to stay home from school for a month. I had a disease, but DOOM was the cure. It was during this time that I was finally able to devote my life to and accomplish completing DOOM and DOOM ][: HELL ON EARTH on the Ultra Violence difficulty setting.

That's so cool. The garish redness of DOOM ][: HELL ON EARTH's final confrontation inadvertently makes it very evocative of Japanese horror and sci-fi models that you'd see spill over into Japanese computer and video game covers in the 80s and early 90s.
