Interesting, I never realized until now that Klax is another one of those games that that was ported both by a western and a Japanese company to the same console (Megadrive/Genesis). The CPC/GX4000 versions are technically different as well, there is the standard version and the slightly better looking version for the CPC+/GX4000 range (the console doesn't have any exclusives afaik, it's just a cut-down version of the + computers).

By the way, wasn't Klax the last official game released commercially for the 2600? I always thought Ghostbusters II was the last one, in 1992, I think (Klax came out in 1990)

It was already kind of weird they were still making games for it when the NES (and Atari 7800!) was out. Hell, it was kind of weird they managed to make games run on it in the first place...

Well, to me the ,marketing of it during the NES era kind of made sense, esp. with the 2600 Jr. as a cheap alternative. Besides, many people did not own a 5200 or 7800, but I guess the 2600market was still big enough. By the way, some later titles turned out amazingly well, like Xenophobe or Solaris.

So much bazungolfness in a single game. As much as I loved Tetris, the more goal-oriented nature of Klax has always been way more interesting.
