The combat in this game is a mess but it doesn't matter because everything else about it is incredible and it needs to be played by anyone that likes video games.

The underlying systems of the game are very simple by today's standards, with most of the complexity coming from the wealth of content. I hope to see this sort of elaborate textbook narration make it into the Realms quest mode of Julian Gollop's current project Chaos Reborn, which at the moment struggles a bit with its single player content.

I remember when I came across this game on HOTU and loved it. Still love it. I somehow never had problems running it through dosbox on 3 different systems(MacOsX,Win7 and Linux)... ANd yeah, one more time I can only say, so nice to finally have an article about it on here.

I bought this game back when it was new, and never could get it to run. I think it was because it didn't like DR-DOS, which I was running at the time instead of MS-DOS, even though I otherwise met the game's requirements. Fortunately back then places like Egghead were understanding that stuff like that happens and let me return it and get something else. That's the only game that gave me problems like that with DR-DOS until the CD-ROM era, where the version of DR-DOS I had just wouldn't work right with the drivers for the CD drive (but that obviously wasn't a problem with the game, but rather the hardware).
