www.hardcoregaming101.net/inventories/hottest.htmCharacters with an extreme affinity for fire are common in video games, but there's been little in the way of heated debate regarding how well they complement the games they're in. Here we take a look at some of gaming's hottest characters to see whether or not their design, abilities and personality can really bring the heat.

lol nice.
Obviously there's lot of room for debate here, but I'd have also included the pyrokinesis chick from Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy and the unkillable living fire guy from Commander Keen 4.

Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy Now there's a forgotten gem. I've often wondered why no one has ripped off it's psychic powers gameplay yet, there are similarities with some of the plasmids in Bioshock for an example, but no game has gone whole hog on the psychic thing yet as much as it did and it would be interesting to see what you could do with it with modern tech. Psi-Ops also sticks out in my mind because despite the fact that it had pretty great gameplay, it has possibly the worst story I've ever seen in a video game, the whole thing was total, utter nonsense that was laughable in every way, including the dialogue, I'm talking The Room caliber stuff, it felt like it was written by one of the developers' 13 year old nephew. Keep in mind it's been well over a decade but some choice examples of stupidity I remember are revelations like WW2 was really fought over the control of these artifacts that empower psychic abilities and the the US actually went to the moon to retrieve one of these artifacts but this occurred in the 1950's, not 1969 (huh?)

Berial was in the running, but he's kind of total chump throughout most of the game and he doesn't have a spark to his personality to make up for it (Dante of course battles him at the end of DMC4 but even Nero completely clowns him in mission 2). Still there's always room for me to expand on this, but while there are plenty of incendiary characters out there, not all of them rise above the haze with the right combination of explosive attacks in the game, hot design, and fiery personality to leave a burning impression. I think one other 8-bit character that I gotta add is THE SUN from Super Mario Bros. 3. It only appears in one level and is so angry. It lacks any real charater but of course makes a huge impact since you only see it once and it's THE ENTIRE SUN.

Haven't tried playing it in awhile, but I totally agree about the story, even though plot is generally near the bottom of my list of things to criticize in gaming. I remember most of the voice actors being above average though.

For a second I thought it was about sexually attractive characters (though that would've been nice).

I think plot matter because when you have a good game but a stupendously stupid story that tends to be what sticks in your memory after man years, at least to me.

For a second I thought it was about sexually attractive characters (though that would've been nice). Subverting that expectation is the intended joke. Besides, what qualifies as sexy is so broadly subjective. E.g., i find dog-faced people repulsive but there're people lap it up like toilet water

Planescape: Torment was made by Black Isle, not Obsidian (although to be fair a lot of ex-Black Isle devs have later worked in Obsidian)

Psychic Force series - Regina and Burn Street Fighter - Dhalsim
