I played the trial of this before the game was released, but found it rather boring because the walking speed was so slow. Also the boss fights were asinine because their health was refilled when you died (and respawned on the spot) but you never knew how much health they had, so it would just seem as if the boss had an insane amount of health. Did the guy fix any of this in the meantime?

I first played the game last fall so I can't say for sure. I didn't have a problem with the walking speed so that may have changed. The bosses however, except for the first one they very very clearly change their speed and attacks bit by bit as the fight goes on, so even without them having a health meter it's very obvious.

I liked it but I can perfectly understand why many others may not, due to the slow walking speed and general stiffness of the controls (which require to even think a bit strategically around them), maybe an excessive nod to the original Phantis whose reproduction is really accurate in many parts. Nothing to object on the audiovisual part - the social network in the intro is also modeled on the ZX Spectrum graphics.
I'm curious to try the team's following production, Mystik Belle, to get a good discount or a bundle because it seems to follow the same line, a modernized take on another genre very popular on the Spectrum, the exploration platformers.

Graphics are definitely neat. Looks like a Game Boy Advance title.

I love the old MSX cover art.

I have played and completed Mystik Belle and while it was a very enjoyable game with an interesting premise I found it a bit flawed. I'll tell more when the review is posted.

The very first line in the article has the title wrong (A Petty Tale of Revenge --> A Tale of Petty Revenge).
