Excuse my ignorance but is it alright to request for a game to be ranked which is currently not on the list of unranked games? I requested Streets of Rage 2 via Stitcher and The Curse of Monkey Island via itunes, along with a 5 star review obviously. Yeah, ranking games through a 5 star review is fine, we're just not taking Twitter nominations at the moment. As it happens, we might actually be able to do SOR2 in the next couple of episodes, so keep an eye out for that.

Good stuff, and thanks for the reply. Looking forward to hearing you rank SOR2.

My guts tell me "yes", but this can of gasoline and the lighter in my hands are saying "no".

There is no universe that exists in this entire multiverse where Final Fight could possibly be better than Streets of Rage 2 in a million years. ...I mean... yes, Jason. We'll be certain to give it a thorough, careful evaluation and judge accordingly on its own merits.

Nice to see that Tail of the Sun was discussed. By no means is it a great game but it is very unique and I wish we saw more weird, experimental games like it. Plus the discussion of the game gave us this great quote, "You could have an Artdink. And Artdink could do what Artdink does. It could Artdink it up. Dink, dink dink."

On difficulty of Ninja Gaiden - a couple of Russian dudes (one of them happens to be a creator of The Curse of the Grey Elephant, a documentary about gaming in 90s Russia) streamed a bootleg version of "Shadow Warrior", which not only runs faster due to PAL/NTSC differences, but also has no power-ups (the only existing one crashes the game). They casually beat it in less than an hour, all while ranting about Japanese version of Ghost'n'Goblins

Yeah, the original Ninja Gaiden deserved a much higher spot than it got here. It's really not that difficult. The only truly annoying part is right at the end because of the boss glitch, and even then, you can clear the game with persistence. I'd always choose NGII over the original game, but it's far from being so flawed as to be unplayable.

I too would like to voice my opinion that Ninja Gaiden should have been wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy higher on this list. I consider it one of my all-time favorite games; definitely one of my favorite sidescrolling action-platformers, at any rate. It's pretty tough, but it's doable. The end-level glitch actually helps in a way, since it gives you an opportunity to build up more weapon energy prior to trying the final boss gauntlet again. I've beaten the game twice, and I love it.

Whether or not we agree on this particular point, we want to thank you for not being the guy who got super angry about what we said about Riven.

Riven is the Human Clay of videogames. It sold a shit ton of copies, but it's still a ton of shit.

Riven is the Human Clay of videogames. It sold a shit ton of copies, but it's still a ton of shit. Lol, I forgot about this album for years What a memories. I still find it kinda funny that ex-Creed members left the band and founded Alter Bridge, a legitimately good rock band - it's like a whole slew of talented musicians was dragged down by one talentless leader. (but yeah, sorry for the offtop) As for RPG Maker ports mentioned in the podcast, there's also Corpse Party on PSP. An interesting example, actually - it was probably the first horror/visual novel ever made in RPG Maker, or at least the first got released in public (being made in 1996), so there's a good chance that it inspired Palette. Both games became obscure over time, but Corpse Party got a remake on PSP during the Yume Nikki craze, and it was a damn good reimagining to the boot - as a result, it clicked with the audience, went from cult classic into modern hit, and started the whole franchise with tons of sequels and a licensed anime. I still wonder what would happen if Palette got a "perfectly timed well-made remake" instead of Corpse Party.

Man that album pissed me off so bad. I really liked Creed's first album. I mean they basically sounded like a Pearl Jam cover band but they were fun.

In regards to the SNES Ninja Gaiden Trilogy, the sprites were updated slightly. Plus passwords were added to counter some of the difficulty. But I have noticed some input lag when play compared to the NES game. I can never run through levels as smoothly as the original. That could just be the emulator though.

Just listened to the new podcast. Can somebody please recommend AvP and The Punisher? We need these beat em ups covered instead of shit like Vendetta.
