www.hardcoregaming101.net/darkseal/darkseal.htmTo go alongside the upcoming release of the Data East Arcade Classics book, here's a pair of isometric fantasy beat-em-ups (also known as Gate of Doom and Wizard Fire) that take influence from role-playing games.

The games themselves were fun, but I'll always remember Wizard Fire best for the random Care Bears and Bitmap Brothers graffiti.

IMO the main idea is great but the execution is flawed yet ugly Morph magic gauge only fill by defeating commoner enemy only Player can get swarmed also hardly avoid boss stage's attack Overall difficult but there is still fun to have if one try very hard

"They're huge, with attacks that are extremely difficult to avoid, and they take tons and tons of damage, which is especially a problem if you're playing solo. The penultimate boss tosses out a huge number of status effects, including confusion, petrification, paralysis, and even turning you into a pig. "
I would describe them as having some attacks that are near impossible to avoid without the speed upgrade or playing as the ninja (which is faster by default), but others that are really easy to avoid. Also if you play on Easy their HP is more balanced, so the don't overstay their welcome as much.
The penultimate boss's status attack is actually pretty easy to avoid, so I didn't find it that frustrating.
Edit: Anyone know what the silver/steel ring and the small pillar with a gem on top do?
Edit 2: Actually it seems like bosses have specific weak points, look at 8:00 in this video:
It doesn't seem to apply to all bosses though.
