So here's the thing.
Yesterday I got on ebay to try and leave feedback. Ebay loaded fine, but when I logged in to my account it suddenly kept giving me "request timeout" errors.
Also on two forums--this and digitpress--I had tried to post topics and, on the latter, write a PM... in both cases once I hit "submit" or "send," the activity indicator would spin (I use firefox mainly) but nothing would happen. The pages would just sit there.
I thought maybe the internet was just buggy tonight (it happens) and decided to come back later.
As it happens, tonight I was able to get SOME messages through but then the previous night's problems came right back, and as for ebay nothing changed--same problem.
I tried different browsers. Then I tried a different operating system altogether--a linux OS I had on a USB drive (and which, by the way, I had not used in YEARS).
Then, finally, I went to my dad's place (he lives just down the block) and used one of HIS computers, and HIS Internet connection.
Guess what? On HIS, all websites work like they should--I can post messages AND ebay lets me log in!
I'm actually posting this message from one of his comps, right now.
So, any thoughts on why his works but mine doesn't?
Thanks in advance.

Potentially-obvious question: have you tried rebooting your router?

I'll try it if I'm still having those issues tonight. Typing this from my own computer/connection so lets see if it goes through....
EDIT: This got through but then the other places behaved like they have been. I reset the router and now nothing is loading at all (more specifically I'm getting this thing where some websites will load up a pink page with a box like there's supposed to be a banner there, which normally means my connection sees the internet but is for some reason receiving at sub-dialup speeds. Other sites are just not loading at all), so I'm resetting it a second time. If it persists, I'm not sure what I'll do.
EDIT 2: It appears to be fixed. I guess my router was just constipated or something.

This thread made me realize our router has been plugged for weeks....
