www.hardcoregaming101.net/battleformula/battleformula.htmSunsoft's NES sorta-sequel to Midway's classic arcade game isn't TECHNICALLY a Spy Hunter game - it's an unrelated title in Japan that's conceptually extremely similar - but it's a fantastic game that's better suited for its legacy than its actual follow-ups.

Wow, I never played this because the NES SpyHunter port was so boring but.. After reading this article I finally tried it and it really is good. Feels very modern somehow.

I didn't know that was originally another game. I never played it but the arcade Spyhunter was fun.

Ahh, Spy Hunter. I don't think I ever actually saw someone get to the boat segment on the NES version; it was the primary motivation to keep going. Darn near mythical.

One of my absolute favorites, unstable equilibrium be damned.

For some reason it didn't click with me, I remember not liking that you could slow down so much. Maybe I should try it again now, 8+ years later.
Either way, it's one of the most technically impressive NES games in terms of the music and seems to use the same bass samples as in Journey to Silius.
