Kind of inspired by a threat about games you bailed on, which I can't find right now, but anyway what's some non vg stuff you guys just threw your hands up and gave up?
Stephen King novels - I love the short stories, The mangler, 1408 and Uncle Otto's truck are my favorites, they are actually scary and quiet good but every time I pick up a full novel of his I tend to give up somewhere near the end feeling the entire story would trail off into tangents about people, places or how Maine accents worked. The shining was the worst as I kept thumbing through it, excepting "scary horrible things" as everyone kept saying but was bored to tears, it about when the story goes off on oranges instead for more than a page I just gave up.
Supernatural - What started off as a likable show with neat monsters it became a dudge to watch after the whole "we must stop the apocalypse" arc weighed in before taking over the entire monster of the week aspect and wangst character development. I gave up after [spoilers]Bobby Singer died[/spoilers] and the cheap "kitsune" monster thrown in to create fake conflict between the leads.
Fanfiction - I liked reading fanfiction, even the so called bad ones with terrible spelling and grammar where there was a overpowered writer stand in uniting the universe to fight an evil version of the writer, they were fun reads and some times had good ideas. But that was taken over by "serious" authors that used grammar, spelling and limitus tests to suck the fun out of it. I mean how many times can somebody read where all the characters are depowered normal people in a high school setting pining for each other in the name of "good writing".
American Comic books, all of them - nearing six bucks a book, needing to get eight books to get the fully story written by eight different writers and done by twelve different artist things feel disjointed. Add in the darkness in everything, including Archie and Hanna Barbara properties, that horrific phototraced artwork it just, ugh. But what pushed it over the edge was Marvel's cover of Mockingbird, at least I think it was Mockingbird I didn't bother remembering the title, with the T-shirt going, "Asking me about my feminist ideals" and a load of strawmen jokes trying to be, "funny", just destroyed any interest in big 2 comics.
But the fans really destroyed any interest I had in comics.

I bought the first volume of the Gantz anime, had no idea what I was getting into, and regretted it.

There are lots of things I haven't finished, for various reasons. One of the more notable things I guess, would be Game of Thrones. I do generally think it's good when I watch it... but it's also a really emotionally heavy/devastating show, so it's not exactly something I can casually watch for fun. I last saw the second episode of Season 4 where Joffrey died . Maybe I'll come back and watch the rest of the show someday... but it's something I have to kind of prepare myself to watch, each time I see a new episode.

german literature - I really liked stuff from Goethe (Faust) or the poems of Oswald von Wolkenstein, but then naturalism happened and it is just boring, especially the stuff from Gerhard Hauptmann. I don't understand why naturalism was a thing. (no hate, just my personal opinion)
Anime - I do like few Anime like Rainbow, Serial Experiments Lain, Jigoku Shōjo, Ghibli movies, but I can't really enjoy the Anime genre, for example stuff from Urobuchi, because they only have interesting concepts, but they never pull an unique story with that and/or rely too much on stereotypes. Stereotypes are okay, but they felt too forced in some series. Most of them have also very weird pacing issues or dialogues, which doesn't make sense. Most Anime have very weird romantic scenes, which are too robotic. The best example is the new Danganronpa Anime. I gave it a try, because I liked the first game, but it was a mistake. They don't behave like humans or smart people, nontheless, it felt like I watched a series with awful actors. It is like Birdemic. (again, no hate, just my feelings)
american action movies - I adore old stuff, but todays movie don't have the roughness of old flicks. It looks beautiful, but it lacks a bit passion I would say. I don't want to say that the old stuff is better, but I miss the classic manliness, for example Chuck Norris vs. Bruce Lee. It would be interesting to see a movie with Keanu Reeves against Denzel Washington or some other characters in a 10 minute fight. I could not even enjoy Expendables. I can't really explain, why I can't enjoy todays action movies, but it lacks something and I don't know what. I heard the main character kills Seagal in Machete, but I can't believe in action movies anymore, thus I gave up the genre. (no hate)
Remakes - for obvious reasons, not every remake is awful, but I just don't see the necessity to create one. The exception would be if it contains a complete story and the previous one was a big mess. I think spinoffs/different POV/sequels are more interesting as remakes.
Yours sincerely

Yeah, Stephen King's so long-winded. I used to be a fan and read about half of his novels (so like, 30) over the years, but as time went on his flaws became more and more apparent to me. He really likes to repeat himself and harp on about things. In On Writing he wrote that the first thing he does when rewriting is cut off 30% of the draft. I can't imagine how much useless repetition his drafts must contain. Still, though, some of his novels, like the whole Dark Tower series or It, are pretty great, and I'd recommend them. I gave up on The Dark Half, though, because it had this investigation going so that every time something happened, they would recap everything else that had happened up to that point. Over and over and over and over again. It was horrible.
I gave up on The Sopranos after a season, too, because the family drama aspect was boring and mundane as hell. They got all this praise for supposedly showing gangsters in a "normal" family setting but said family is the typical upper middle-class family that has been featured in every American TV show ever. They're boring and don't resemble anyone I know. Also, the mother is the most aggravating character of all time. Man, fuck her.

You will enjoy it. Food - It is not the Carolina Reaper, but a gift of Ghost Pepper tortilla is still something I cannot eat. Novel - The Subtle Knife from His Dark Material. Will bores me to tears. May pick up later. Nanowrimo - I think I am going to bail on this.

Stephen King - For the same reasons others have cited. I do love Dark Tower, 'Salems Lot, and his shorts(am in the middle of Night Shift right now). But his larger novels are just too much.
Anime - I did give a it concerted effort years ago, but its just not for me. There's stuff I still like, but overall I could not get into most of it. I liked more of the darker stuff like Berserk, Vampire Hunter D, and Akira. But just about everything else did not appeal to me for reasons that are hard to express. The main thing being that animation just cannot hold my attention for too long when watching.
Music Writing - I still play from time to time, but I had a dream of being a musician when I was younger that has since been put to rest. I had a couple bands in my younger days. One was short lived but was gaining momentum before we split and another was successful locally before things fell apart. But after seeing what some friends had to endure, and still are, just to make a career out of it, it really turned me off.

I did bail on Supernatural (and many others) because the network that had CW at the time would reschedule episodes because of sports. I couldn't keep up with it. Also, I didn't like where it was heading about season 4/5? Is that where the demon/angel crap started? I just liked it when they were traveling around and stuff. I enjoyed the anime adaptation because it gave me a new perspective on the early seasons.
Game of Thrones - Spoiled to death, I'll read the novels instead when the series dies in popularity. Premium channel stuff in general rather pretentious to me. Award bait and all that.

I heard the main character kills Seagal in Machete, but I can't believe in action movies anymore, thus I gave up the genre. (no hate) There are a few good ones, still. But a lot of the modern ones are overedited. I get why, to protect its stars, but a lot of the art of action movies is lost when you're always cutting up fight scenes to the point where the stuntmen are wasted. This is why actors who do their own stunts invariably provide better results visually. The recent Mission Impossible movies, for example, are solidly filmed action movies. These movies are nothing amazing, but they are crunchy, coherent stuff, helped by the fact that, at least for the big set pieces, Tom Cruise likes to put himself into the stunts. This is a case where his huge ego actually serves his action movies well. For me, I mostly bail on long running fantasy novel series. I still haven't seen a fantasy novel series that has been served well by going over 3 books, unless they are all standalone novels featuring the same cast. I bailed on Wheel of Time by book 6, and I bailed on the Game of Thrones saga a long time ago. There really is no actual need to have 8-13 book sagas. I know they mostly stretch them out for monetary purposes anyway.

Watched the Colts win the superbowl... it wasn't a bad time tbh.

Sculpting I used to make bendy figures for stop motion animation. My interest died when I learned 3d modelling.
Tokyo Ghoul:re Most of the characters looks almost the same and there's lots of characters being introduced and killed that makes you ask "wtf was the point of that?" The story lost focus and just pumped out chapters full of fights from characters no one cared about and since there's a lack of distinction between characters it becomes really confusing who and wtf is going on.
Terra Formars Same complaints I have with Tokyo Ghoul:re with a dumber plot. Dropped this earlier.
Walking Dead Both comic and tv show. The comics is just dragging at this point, it only has shock value going on. I dropped the tv show early season 3 or 4 after the governor battle and when they took people from the governor's camp only to kill them off early next season. Absolutely pointless.

Loads and loads and loads of TV series that got too long or too crap to put up with. Lost was a prime example; it got progressively worse as the seasons went on and then at the end of season 5(?) Desmond got of the Island and Jack tried to kill himself , so I thought: "This can't possibly get any better than this" and never looked back. Gave up MtG for over fifteen years until they finally me back in. The Wheel of Time. I think I read maybe two or three books as a teen and then got bored. Doesn't seem to have improved since.
