He ain't kidding, folks. I mean, say what you want about games like Mortal Kombat 2011, where you can get ripped in half like an old wishbone, but at least, you know, there's somebody else on the other end trying to do the same thing to you first. This is just kinda gross.

The graphics look like something a 13 year old would whip up in MS paint. Also, I'm going to give the developers the benefit of the doubt and assume it was a game meant specifically for bars and not arcades where no kids would be playing it, at least I hope that's what they going for.

The difference between Mortal Kombat, Doom and the other games of the 1994-1995 'violence in games' moral panic and this, is that the violence in aforementioned is intentionally over-the-top, ridiculous, and cartoonish. There is simply not that much blood in a human as sprays when you perform a fatality in MK, and it's infused with a goofy sense of black humor (re: "Toasty!!!"). Doom, Night Trap, Eternal Champions, all the same to a greater or lesser degree. It's buckets of blood followed by a snarky quip from Freddy. Plus, as Bobinator points out, someone else is trying to do the same to you, on equal terms.
This is not the case in Chiller. Chiller's sort of violence, where you inflict gruesome harm on helpless people, is representative of something sick. I would be interested to know details about the actual sales figures of that cabinet. Where was it released? How many were bought? Who bought them? Was it, as Gamer Griff suggested, only bought by certain places that expected an adults-only crowd?

Now that you mention it, note that the flyer doesn't mention anything about the game, let alone the level of violence. Were they just hoping people wouldn't notice until they bought it, and it was too late?

Was it, as Gamer Griff suggested, only bought by certain places that expected an adults-only crowd? Correct me if I'm wrong, but there were other arcade games in the 80's that we know were specifically for bars, I remember reading about some game called "gotcha" or something where the joysticks were covered with pink rubber domes that looked like boobs and the ad showed a guy grabbing a woman's chest and said game I remember was supposed to be specifically for bars. I just can't imagine they would make a game like in 1986 and not intend it for adults only.
