This is just out of curiosity, really. Almost everyone has played it, but that doesn't necessarily mean everyone has beaten it. Also, this probably isn't necessary to state, but just to be safe, I want to make it clear that having beaten or not beaten Super Mario Bros. has no effect on your "gaming credibility" or equivalent in any way. This is just for fun, so let's have fun. ^_^

Damn... I... really should beat it sometime. I've only beaten Super Mario Bros. DX on GBC and that had saves and all. I play SMB once in a while but don't get the urge to invest a lot of time into beating it. Weird thing is, I consider myself pretty competent in SMB and don't find the game too hard even.
I'm going to my parents' (where my NES is) for the weekend so maybe I'll try to beat it on its original platform there. I'll go with warp zones though, I just want to be able to say I've beaten it. Maybe someday I'll go without warp zones. I might not use continues though. That would feel odd but that's just me.

No, I've never beaten any of the classic Marios even though I've played them all.
I think the furthest I've got was Super Mario World on the GBA re-release but I eventually lost interest.
The big problem for me is that those games can get tough as nails and since there's no real story beyond "save the Princess" there's never been a huge motivating factor to do it for me, but beating them eventually is on my gaming bucket list though.

I did, but only with warp pipes, I recall the later castles being really tedious and annoying.

No. First time I tright it was at a friend's NES, it was the early 90ies and I thought it was just very, very primitive and we met at my house in the future to play something like Turrican 2 instead..so yeah.
When I fired ut up over a decade later on an emulator, I just played a bit of it and got bored. So, NES Mario games just don't click with me, and I have no real nostalgia for them.

I had always been a bigger fan of SMB 2 back then, so I never gave much time to the original. I finally beat it a couple of times within the last year or so. I had finished Lost Levels years before this one. The original game(and Lost Levels to a certain extent) just never really stuck with me.

Did it once in the All stars version without warps.
Came close to beating the original without warps when I inherited a nes and games from a relative we were visiting for christmas. I think I kept getting tripped up on just a couple stages before the last castle. Hard to say precisely, feels like ages ago.

Yeah once or twice, with and without warps. Also completed it with All Stars and Deluxe on Game Boy.

No. I've never cared to put that much time into it, partially thanks to my Ultra-ADD.

I think I might have? I have certiainly beaten Super Luigi Bros., which was included in NES Remix 2 (or 1?). That's basically SMB with Luigi Physics and everything going right-to-left.

Have you played Super Mario Bros. 3? I can't necessarily guarantee it would appeal to you, but if you haven't played it, it's worth knowing that it's a significant step up in quality from the first Super Mario Bros. in just about every way possible. Better graphics, better control, more open/versatile/interesting level design, etc.

Yes, and dozens of years ago, on the original Nes. I prefered Super Wonder Boy on SMS/Sega Mark III.

I actually played it slowly through fully, but I used savestates to keep my progress and to get more retries per level than my nominal stock of lives would allow. I only used one save state at the start of each level, but it still doesn't really qualify as any of the choices on the poll.

When I was a kid and first played it I could only get to world 8 with warps and couldn't progress beyond that. As a teenager with All Stars I played through it all using its save system. In my 20s I finally got around to beating it on an actual NES. I need practice when I do pick it up but ultimately think it is easier without warps. Without warps the difficulty has a pretty gradual increase difficulty wise & you store up more lives via coins & 1ups. I don't think I could have beaten 3 legitimately without the practice on the original game.

But I mean, nobody can be that foolish, right? Right?
