Wii Shop Channel shuts down in 2019I really need to get around to getting Gradius ReBirth and Castlevania ReBirth. I also should pick up some of the rarer Virtual Console games that are available, like Mega Turrican or MUSHA or whatnot.

NooooOOOooooOOOOoOOoo~~!!!!
I'm going to miss the Wii Shop Channel. I have more fun just browsing the channel and listening to that snappy BGM, than I do playing some actual games.

Damn. That's a shame. I also need to pick up Konami's Rebirth titles, as well as the Zombie's Ate My Neighbor's port on the Virtual Console.

I didn't use it much, but it's a shame to see it go.

Haha, that shop channel music is pretty nice. I remember my mind being blow in 2007 (damn, a decade ago!) when I would browse through the channel, and see a whole bunch of old games now available to legally purchase and download to my system! That was super cool and awesome.

So what're some rarer Virtual Console titles that are currently unavailable anywhere else? I mean what's worth buying up?

So what're some rarer Virtual Console titles that are currently unavailable anywhere else? I mean what's worth buying up? Konami's ReBirth series (Gradius ReBirth, Contra ReBirth, and Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth) have never been ported anywhere, so if you care at all about them, definitely pick those up. There are also some other random WiiWare games I'm aware of like Muscle March and whatnot, which I don't think have been ported anywhere. EDIT: Oh, I just noticed you said Virtual Console and not WiiWare. Well... there are some assorted Virtual Console games that I don't think are readily available anywhere else (aside from piracy or secondhand purchase), like Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, or the PC Engine CD version of Ys Book I & II, or Mega Turrican. I don't have a list of exclusive Virtual Console games off the top of my head though.

Blaster Master: Overdrive is still Wii exclusive, yeah.

There’s a bunch of miscellaneous WiiWare and VC I never got around to getting so I guess I have motivation now.

Checked mobygames to see if they have a wiiware rubric, and sure enough yes they do. A quick cross-reference of games yields these exclusives: Alien Crush Returns Bit Boy!! Bomberman Blast Excitebike: World Rally Dr. Mario Online RX Eduardo the Samurai Toaster Fluidity Ghostmania Groovin' Blocks Gyrostarr Hoopworld Jam City Roller Girls Maboshi's Arcade Magnetica Twist My Pokémon Ranch Onslaught Pirates: The Key of Dreams Planet Fish Pong Toss: Frat Party Games [yeck] Pokémon Rumble Pop 'Em Drop 'Em Samegame Robocalypse - Beaver Defense Sexy Poker [No. Really] Soccer Bashi Space Invaders Get Even Star Soldier R Tetris Party You, Me, and the Cubes Zombie Panic in Wonderland Excluded a lot of obvious shovelware.

Did Sin & Punishment ever get WiiU-ified?

I had a feeling that was gonna happen but I'm glad Nintendo has given us a head's up.
Thankfully though there's not a lot of stuff left that I want to buy, mostly a handful of N64 titles (the biggest being Ocarina of Time) and some arcade titles.

I think Retronauts did an episode a little while ago about how Nintendo's incidental music is just going to lost to history as these sorts of things get shut down.

Those rebirth games look sick. Why were they relegated to this thing? Will there be any other way to play them?
