www.hardcoregaming101.net/realm-of-impossibility/An isometric action game for Atari 8-bit (and a few other) computers, where you run away from zombies and other monsters, while conquering dungeons shaped like M. C. Escher paintings. I've been meaning to write about this for years, so I finally got my act together to hammer it out. This is one of my earliest gaming memories, as when I was very young (three or four years old), I would play games with my dad on our Atari 400. One of them was Zombies (the initial release of this game), which, for whatever reason, scared the hell out me too much to actually play. One day, I decided I was brave enough to try it...then the disk drive failed, forever erasing the game and denying me the ability to face my fears. (We also didn't realize it was actually ruining disks for a little while either, so it claimed a few other games, including Wizard and the Princess.) We never got a replacement (I think it was copied from one of my dad's friends anyway), so I didn't get to play it until the advent of emulation many, many years later. And I've since picked up a copy for myself, for when I was collecting those awesome Electronic Arts foldout packages. Anyway, even though this game isn't as terrifying as my three year old self remembers it, it's still a pretty cool game, and definitely one of the better ones to be released for the Atari 8-bit platform.

Thanks! I'm unfamiliar with most of those (except Shamus, which I've been meaning to do an article on too).
