Going back a really long way, there's Space Invaders II, Midway's US-only sequel, which they made without Taito's involvement (Midway having previously manufactured Space Invaders in the US.) Note that this is a different game entirely from Space Invaders Part II, which was the official Japanese sequel. www.mobygames.com/game/space-invaders-ii

Bomb Jack 2 is actually at the center of a bizarre licensing snafu.
Both Bomb Jack 2 and Beyond the Ice Palace were supposed to be Thundercats games, but in order to meet the Christmas 1987 shopping season, Elite bought the rights to an unreleased samurai-themed game, changed a few sprites, and released it as Thundercats. But since Elite only had the license for a single game, both of the Thundercats games under development had to be reworked; one of them became Bomb Jack 2 which is why it's nothing like the original, and the other was meant to become a Ghosts n Goblins sequel (Elite having previously published the home computer versions of GnG), but Capcom rejected it, so it was again reworked into Beyond the Ice Palace, an obvious Thundercats clone.
I found all this out when researching for the "Creator loses rights to series, then makes a clone of it" thread.

It looks like Ocean/Imagine's The Vindicator was called Green Beret II in early previews. It seems there is no mention of that in the released versions though. Wikipedia claims that re-releases had Green Beret II as subtitle, but I find that doubtful.

My sister had a baseball game on her TV and a commercial showed up for RBI Baseball 18,which I believe counts for this article. The games started out as Famista localization, but starting with the Genesis version of the 3rd game it became Tengen's own franchise.
