I just got a DC-X import-enabling disc and I need to explore what Japan has to offer in terms of DC games. What games do you guys suggest? I already have Under Defeat and I love it. Now, I'm mainly looking for more import-friendly games as I have no knowledge of Japanese at all so shooters, fighters, puzzlers, and action games would be the best suggestions.

Vampire Chronicles too (same row as puzzle fighter at the end) It was the most expensive game I got for DC $80 Last game I played before my Dreamcast started going Apeshit on me
CVS 2 was the last game I played on my DC before the system fried my Memory card

Zero Gunner 2 is pretty bland. If you want a shmup Border Down is the best one on the system not available elsewhere.
Definitely get:
Black/Matrix AD Border Down Cool Cool Toon Fire Pro D Super Robot Wars Alpha Twinkle Star Sprites Vampire Chronicle
Everything else that's worth it is out in the US on the Dreamcast or something else and is either equal to or better than the Japanese Dreamcast version in some way. The only exception is King of Fighters 2002 which is soft filtered by default on the Dreamcast and looks freaking awesome compared to the PS2/XBox ports.
Black/Matrix and Super Robot Wars are strategy games but outside of that you shouldn't have any problems.

I second Black/Matrix AD. It's dark plot, combined with it's nice artistic style and wholesome Strategy goodness make it quite an interesting Dreamcast game. Be warned however that it has heavy religious overtones, so if you are strong of faith, then don't get it. Here's a couple more:
Kuon No Kizuna Sairinsyo (Text-Adventure) Mobile Suit Gundam E.F.F Vs. Zeon & DX (Action Game)
Also, if you haven't already, you should get Shenmue 2. It was released in Japan and Europe for Dreamcast.

That Twinkle Star Sprites suggestion must've been a joke. Just get the Saturn version. You need to start of your collection with the trippy two: Rez and Cosmic Smash. Everyone knows what these games are, so there's no need to explain them. Just get them. Now... The ListIkaruga Border Down Shikigami no Shiro II Psyvariar 2 King of Fighters 2000 King of Fighters 2001 King of Fighters 2002 Puyo Puyo Fever Chaos Field Baldr Force EXE Trizeal Radirgy/Radilgy/Rajirugi/Radio Allergy Under Defeat (which you already have) Those are the most import friendly games that have been released for the Dreamcast since September 5th of 2002 (figure it out). Check em out. Here's some lesser known titles: Bomber Hehhe! - This is a nice little puzzler. You're a demolition guy in charge of blowing up buildings in the most organized fashion, so try not to damage surrounding areas. Frame Gride - This title from From Software is like Armored Core except more... earthy? I can't explain it. It's a good game, but, at first, it's not exactly import friendly, but it'll only take a few moments to get over the language barrier. Cool Cool Toon - A cool SNK rhythm game. Pretty cute graphics going on with some pretty fun gameplay. You use the analog stick to, well, keep the beat. A system similiar to this was used in Elite Beat Agents. Izumo - I know you probably don't want to go about blindly playing a game because it's in Japanese... but, this title is pretty easy to get through without any knowledge of Japanese, you just won't know what's going on. This was the last RPG released on the Dreamcast. Sengoku TURB - Buy this for the cover art. Roommania #203 - DUMB cover art, but okay game. You play as a ghostly guy ( no clue) that lives in some room with some "living" guy. Now, well, you can move shit around, watch him, scare him, or shoot ping pong balls at him (... yeah). It sounds dumb, and it kinda is, but it's fun in short bits. Tokyo Bus Guide - This seems like it would be like Crazy Taxi, but instead of a taxi, you're driving a tour bus around... but it's the exact opposite. You have to FOLLOW THE RULES OF THE ROAD in this title. You can't go over the speed limit or out of your lane. This game can actually be fun. Lack of Love - This is a cute game. It's life simulation. You start as a little organism and you have to evolve yourself according to the surroundings in order to explore more. Kinda like Seventh Cross without the horrible slowdown... but kinda not like it. Oh, most of it is in English. Hmm, I'll post some more later. Have fun with those in the meantime. Oh, and watch out for Trigger Heart Exelica this month and Karous next month. Also, keep your eyes on Dynamite Deka EX... -GoTaS

I already have the US versions of Ikaruga for GC and Rez for PS2 and I already have the Japan version of Chaos Field for the GC. I want Border Down pretty badly but the game is going for so much now I don't think I'll be able to afford it. I think I might actually want to get the Japan version of Last Blade 2 as it is uncensored. I also really want Cosmic Smash but it seems to be pretty rare as I can't even find it on eBay at the moment. I'm not big on the Milestone shooters as I was really disappointed with Chaos Field. I might buy Trigger Heart but I'm kinda on the fence about it. I have no idea if it'll be good or not. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll be sure to check out the ones I don't know anything about.

Zero Gunner 2 is pretty bland. If you want a shmup Border Down is the best one on the system not available elsewhere. Zero Gunner isn't bland. In fact, it's the only Psykio game I actually like. Border Down is okay; only get it if you really like what the game does. I didn't like the suicide concept (HAY GUYS I'M GOING TO CRASH THIS EXPENSIVE PROTOTYPE SHIP TO ARTIFICIALLY MAKE THIS MISSION MORE DRAMATIC THAN IT ALREADY IS AS WELL AS TO INCREASE THIS ARBITRARY NUMERICAL VALUE FASTER ALTHOUGH THIS BEARS NO OTHER SIGNIFICANT MEANING THAN FOR IT TO LOOK COOL ON MY SCREEN OKAY) and the reward system for destroying the bosses when the countdown timer gets closer to zero while simultaneously absorbing all of the bullets you can before you destroy something. I know you don't need to do it, but that norm clear meter mocks you every time you don't because you're not playing it right. And I was pretty serious on the Twinkle Star Sprites thing. You don't get slowdown in the Dreamcast port.

The Dreamcast version of TSS is also a bit cheaper, at least when I went shopping for it. The Saturn version does have the intro video, voices, and the bonus disc (nice kinda negligible) but does have the extra character, which is actually worthwhile. The DC one does have an option for English though.
I didn't see Rent A Hero No. 1 mentioned. It's not a great game, but it's not bad to pick up cheap. It's a 3D remake of the Mega Drive game, which is worth downloading just to see if you like the humor. Plus you get to play with a Sega Creamcast.

What? Not really. They hacked out the text in the GC version instead of translating it (argh), and the extras are barely worthwhile. But other than the DC version offering VGA output, they're about the same.
Some people have complained about the music being off (in the same way that the GC Skies of Arcadia sounded weird) but I never noticed it.

If you've played the Gamecube version of Ikaruga enough, you start to notice that the homing shots can glitch and not target anything at all. They'll just fly off the sides of the screen. This never happens in the Dreamcast version.
Also, by cutting out the text, they've essentially cut out the atmosphere and symbolism of the game. Not good.
