MURI (Win10, 1st play, 1h40m)
A fun faux-DOS platformer. It definitely nails the general style, though it has some japanese influences. But there's light-sources casting light in 45 degree angles, joysticks and floppy discs as items and just generally an authentic feeling tileset.
Gameplay-wise, it has an interesting weapon system, but the actual platforming/shooting is kind of basic. Which is of course because it's a DOS-inspired platformer running in 16fps (you can play it in 32fps too, but it doesn't look appropriate). It's split up into episodes (and you lose weapons between them), and you won't see every weapon in the first episode, so that's all familiar too. And there's tons of hidden stuff everywhere, of course. There's even keys-cards to pick up, though they don't unlock anything until the final stage of each episode.

I've been too lazy to write a post about the last few games I beat until NOW!! I've played Final Fantasy 1 and 2 on the GBA a couple years ago, but now i've gone and done it on the PSP too.
Final Fantasy (PSP) - 25 hours (with endgame content) Final Fantasy 2 (PSP) - 25 hours I'm going to play the NES and PS1 versions someday!
Still Life 2 (Windows) - 13 Hours This adventure game is pretty exciting and action packed.... sometimes. There are not many environments, the game has a LOT of glitches (I got softlocked multiple times), but its kind of interesting. 6 / 10
Bleach: Heat the Soul (PSP) - 6 hours A 3D cel shaded fighting game based on the anime Bleach. Only released in japan, as an English speaker you can play it just fine. I played through the 6 character's storylines. 6 / 10
Astyanax (NES) - No idea hours A janky but charming action platformer. I really like this game, but a couple of the levels are somewhat infuriating. Luckily, you can continue infinitely from the beginning of the level. 7.5 / 10 Also the story is pretty neat. It's got a Ninja Gaiden thing going on with the cutscenes, although Ninja Gaiden does a better job. Also the cartridge only costs FIVE bucks hell yeah thats a steal

Megaman X, SNES (replay, about an hour and 35 minutes).
Always a refreshing game to play through. I love how beating one level will affect what happens to the other levels, and just the utility given to different weapons. You could feel the sense of love and attention given to this game. And among the best as Mega Man soundtracks go.
10/10.

I beat Contra on my (ahem) PC (I have the original cartridge). This is probably my fourth playthrough of the game, and it took about a half hour.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney — Justice For All (Switch, Replay)
First, I want to say that the art style works better here than it did in the first game. There's a lot more character animation, and the art looks better in motion. The cases though are a little mixed. The first case is the first case so you can't really say too much about it. The second though is both really obvious and has a really unnecessary twist. The third has a colorful cast, but a story that's a little dumb. The fourth and last makes up for everything and is a real gem.

Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (GBA, but played on original XBOX using XBOYAdvance, no cheats used Time Taken: 9 Hours - It clocked in about 6 hours on the games clock, but I allowed for deaths, restarts and other bullshit - 1st playthrough)
I had heard about this one and gave it a go. Looks and sounds amazing for the console. The game is an RPG-Lite I actually expected something more like Castlevania IV. It's a tough game and a lot of backtracking is required it's also much bigger than I expected. Game scores 8/10 and is number 74 on my top games I've completed list.

Claiming Gate of Thunder, PCE-CD, first time.
Nice, satisfying shooter with pretty low difficulty (for the genre).

The Office Quest (Switch, First Time)
Unlike what the title sounds like, this is not some kind of weird RPG version of the The Office. Rather it's a short and fairly easy adventure game based on nothing in particular. The main character works in some kind of nondescript office and decides to follow a red splotch. I want to say the main problem is that there's no real thematic consistency at all. This was originally released somewhat episodically, but what the overall plan actually was seems to have gotten thrown out at some point mainly in that you leave the office in the middle of the second chapter of four. Everything is monochrome except for that splotch which could say something about drab offices but so are the forest, island and desert you go to. Everyone wears these weird animal outfits which could say something about business attire except everyone you meet also wears these weird outfits. It is kinda silly with a lot of animation at least.
For the gameplay, it's a mix of inventory and mechanical puzzles leaning heavily towards the mechanical puzzles. You have an inventory but use the correct item automatically. You also generally only have access to a few screens at a time which helps keep the difficulty down. Most of the puzzles aren't anything spectacular and the clue/solution for one is actually wrong. There's a few nice parts though so it isn't totally a waste of time. I got it for $3 which is definitely worth it, but the full price of $12 is kinda high considering the mobile version is $6 and the PC version is $9.

Romancing Saga (SNES, First Time)
I've pretty much put all my thoughts in the general thread, but I would say it was worth pushing through. On the plus side, you have free character customization and much more freedom than most jRPGs. On the minus side, everything is insanely opaque which may or may not be related to cut content. I am a little interesting in the PS2 remake although I'll likely play #3 before it.
Edit: Also, the Stone/Curse status basically required a reload if a character got it during battle. Every other status goes away after a battle but not that one. Supposedly there's an item that cures it, but I was never able to find one. At least very few enemies actually cause it.
Edit 2: Forgot to mention that the ending scenes are based on what you completed which is a nice touch.
I finished in 29:53.

Super Adventure Island, SNES (1st time, about 1.5 hours)
This is my first time actually beating an Adventure Island game. I haven't played the series in ages, but this SNES iteration seems the easiest of the lot from what I remember. The game isn't very long at all, and is about 30 minutes for a proper playthrough. I do welcome the ability to high jump at will. The game itself mostly seems as a step-up graphically, with perhaps, more innovative boss fights. But gone are some of the cool power-ups, like dinosaur companions from the NES/Famicom games. The last boss fight is quite reminiscent of the end of Super Mario Bros. 3.
6/10.

Double Dragon (Neo Geo CD version played on XBOX original via emulation, no cheats used, first time, completed as every character Time taken around 2 hours)The film is corny, but this is a good beat em up. While not as good as KOF or Samurai Showdown it is a decent game, with nice graphics and the music is B-Grade apart Burnov's heavy metal inspired stage music and the ninja's airplane stage which are A-grade. Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts, SNES (replay, approx. 3 hours)
The game is pretty timing consuming because of the freaken difficulty. Actually, I feel like this game is the easiest in the whole series. What a difference being able to double-jump makes. Actually, the game isn't that hard if you stick to using the crossbow. The crossbow which Arthur doesn't actually use, except for the magic quiver of unlimited arrows which he chooses to throw, 2 or 3 at a time with his bare hands. The most deaths for me came towards the end, trying to force my way through with the magic bracelet. One of the worst weapons to try to take on the red firebrand/red arreemer. Love the music and the mood of the game. Yet it is hilariously offset in the ending where they deemed it necessary to note the princess' 3-sizes (bust/waist/hip). Of course, the cryptic "The End?" screen possibly foreshadowed the Maximo games, as well as Ghoul's 'n Ghosts on the PSP.
8/10.

I finished some more games! First up, Life is Strange: Before the Storm (PS4), including Life is Strange: Before the Storm Bonus Episode: Farewell (PS4). I'm liked this a lot more than my initial expectations for a prequel story. Rachel and Chloe were well written and likable, with some great moments all over the emotional spectrum. A clear 9/10 from me. The Bonus Episode can be played at any point without finishing any previous episode (unlike the main ones), so I believe it meets all the DLC criteria. It's funny, silly and sweet, and absolutely shouldn't be missed if you're already playing the main game. Max's shirt is great too: I also finished Chuchel (Android) which was silly and irreverant. Very silly. Amanita Design games work quite well on Mobile; this is the second (after Samorost 3) that I've played primarily on my phone. 8/10 here.

I claim Metal Slug from the Metal Slug Anthology on the Wii. First time playthrough. I used the default settings, which have unlimited continues on. It took about an hour.
I was impressed by how fun and fast-paced it is. I love the animation, even though the sprites are pixelated. I was surprised at how violent the game is, with blood and limbs flying off depending on how you attack enemies.

Unavowed (Windows, first playthrough) - 8 hours, 18 minutes - 4/5
Potentially my favorite Wadjet Eye game or at least on par with Blackwell Epiphany. Loved the open ended nature of the cases and overall story here. Will be back to replay with a different main character background in addition to taking different characters out for different cases.
Resident Evil 2 (Playstation, replay) - 2 hours, 1 minute - 3.5/5
Continuing my annual RE series playing, did Leon A. RE2 has always been my least favorite of the classic trilogy and this run didn't exactly change my mind. The police station is a great but the lack of difficulty (RE2 is the easiest fixed camera style RE game) and puzzles are a bummer. Even still, I'm always happy to revisit this every so often.
