Hi everyone. So, I've been a tad curious about these SNES flash carts. Correct me if I'm wrong, but with the proper equipment could I transfer those .smc rom files to the flash cart and play them on my SNES?
I've already done a few searches on this subject and what I've found was either:
Very poorly written; as I could not understand what the heck they were talking about.
and/or
Assumed you were an electronics genius and could make a flash cart out of any old SNES game you had lying around.
So, can anyone explain to me how these work in plain, friendly HG101 language? Or, better yet, for anyone who owns one... could you recommend me one?
Thanks, Justin

There aren't any flash carts per se.
What you can buy is a device (copier) that plugs to the SNES and you can make (or download) backup copies (a.k.a. roms) and play them thanks to the device.

Ah yes— these are some cool devices. Yeah, I didn't know what to call 'em so I'd type things like "SNES flash carts" in Google and get no results. Now I know the correct term is "copier." Thanks.

I thought about getting flashcarts for every old console I'm interested in, but it's just not the way to go. They either don't exist or have so poor documentation and support that is just not worth it. Your best bet is to get said console's original controller with an adapter for the pc and an emulator, your pc connected to the TV. It's cheaper and almost 100% identical to the real thing.

Ah, sh3llsh0ck... I've always wanted to do that, but sadly I have no idea how to hook my PC up to my CRT TV instead of a computer monitor. Is it even possible with a CRT TV?

Yes, justin, there are many ways to get picture from your PC onto your TV. Most PC's and laptops today have some sort of video out other than VGA. Check the back of your computer, you may have outputs you never knew you had. My laptop has an S-Video out port and I use it a lot when wanting to watch movies on my CRT. Otherwise if your PC doesn't already have that output you can find cables that convert VGA signal to pretty much any other kind of input. Also, you might also be able to find a video card to install in your PC that has video out. I would try these sites for all of these things: www.newegg.com/www.cablestogo.com/I hope this helps you unlock the potential of your PC. Feel free to ask if you have further questions.

Yeah, definitely. I've visited lots of videogame-related message boards— this one's the best right here. Not one snappy answer or a shred of insult to be found

Ok, ok— shame on me everybody! Thanks, daimakaimura. I checked out the website and it is, indeed, a flash cart. The only one in existence it seems. Folks, your posts won't go unnoticed. I read every one. So even if I don't respond your comments are much appreciated. ;D My apologies, Justin *jumps off bridge*

Hahaha...yeah, this site is great. By and large everyone gets along here and I like to keep it that way. No asses! I think we had a couple bad posters over the months this forum has been active (a forum spam poster and a troll or two) but they all got blasted for their stupidity and they haven't come back. We have a small but dedicated group of forum regulars so there is always something to talk about with someone you are comfortable with. I've been to lots of forums but none of them is nearly as cool as this one. Everyone is helpful because we all have similar interests. I hope we grow slowly and keep a cool group so I will continue to post everyday.
