Okay, now I'm pretty damb sure I'm looking for answers too soon. Hell, it was only just released today, so... I definitely am. But because I absolutely love every iota of Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution (maybe except for fighting Lion or Pai... major a-holes they be), I'm wondering whether or not to get stoked about VF5. Now I don't have an X360 or PS3 yet, so I'm in no rush, but I'd just like to hear about VF5 when more press about it comes out. I'm especially fascinated on the premise that a while ago... I forget when and where, but I heard that it had quite a few bugs in gameplay that made it less enjoyable than VF4? Apparently, the original arcade version had a few revisions since then, but... well, I don't know if I should prepare to enjoy Virtua Fighter 5 or pass on it. I'm definitely jumping the gun on this one. If anyone finds any press about it, do please post a link. I thank anyone in advance. I especially want to know if Goh is still a major mofo to deal with, because I'd be sure to feck up opponents left and right if he hasn't changed much or has improved significantly. ;D

The 360 Version will be the most recent revision as of it's release date and there's a good chance microsoft will force online into it.
I'd say get a 360 for VF5

That's what I've been thinking. Let me put it this way: I'm not getting a PS3 just for VF5.

I've heard from tons of places that 360 will most definitely not have online play. As for other features, who knows...
I got a PS3 mainly in part for VF5 and the other games of Spring (well, that plus the lack of 360 reliability). While I'm a fan, I'm not that hardcore into it that I'll care about huge bugs. I have, however, been lurking at virtuafighter.com; from the threads there, it doesn't seem like VF5 has many big gameplay bugs, and certainly no game breaking ones.
If you have an HDTV, I'd actually say go for a PS3 and get VF5 now. Plus, as much as people dog it, once you see bluray movies, you really won't go back to dvd.

Seeing what Microsoft's polacy is on XBOX Live components count on online in someway shape or form.
And the 360 issues is a myth if you take cares of the 360 no issues.
So trade that black energy sucker for a better system with more games

Not a chance. Why would I settle for a Hoover vacuum?
More games? It damn well better, since it has a 1 year headstart!
Also, don't believe me if you want, but I'm telling you - no online play for VF5 anywhere.
360 issues being a myth my ass; if the veteran guys on the shmups forums complain about its durability, I'm convinced it's a faulty system - those guys seriously, seriously take care of their shit. I'll still get one, but much, much later on when actual reliability is achieved or the system is cheap enough to take the risk. Or if a Panzer Dragoon is ever released. Whichever occurs first.

Can we not turn this into a systems war thread? Please?
Anyway, I don't know enough about Virtua Fighter to really know what's "new" on this one, other than the graphical overhaul. I'd imagine Microsoft wants Sega to put in online play, but if it does happen, it's going to be lambasted no matter what. The few fighting games I've played online have ranged from just fine to terribly unplayable - it seems almost impossible for them to get it done right.

Plus online could easily just mean leaderboard..ala Dead Rising.
And system wars aside, every console in a specific generation has been pretty much proven to always have something you will miss in terms of excellent exclusives. Coincidently I'm behind Microsoft and Nintendo this generation because I live in Australia and personally Sony has shafted us for the last time.

I'm not one to judge, seeing as how my VF4: Evolution copy still lies in the dank realm of borrowed, but 1up.com ran a good feature on 5 a while back.

It garnered a Gold award from EGM with one 10 and two not-10s. you could always look on gamerankings for other scores. Of course the early arcade test versions were buggy, that's why there are revisions with most every fighting game out there after street fighter alpha 2 (perhaps earlier). It's Virtua Fighter. . . With the exception of part 3, you have a solidly consistent series. As for Online, Numerous interviews have stated that they couldn't get the game to run perfectly, so they won't put in an online mode. Reason for this would be how serious the team (and fans) take the game, the slightest bit of lag would screw things up completely for both newbies and vets due to the sheer depth the series is known for (as opposed to DoA ). I'm personally going with the 360 version, since I'll be getting one of those LONG before I get a PS3. This is simply because there is nothing on the PS3 that appeals to me before MGS4 (07) and DMC4 (08, if we're lucky). That and even both those titles still don't justify $600 (I played resistance for about 2 hours and wasn't impressed enough to even drop $60 on the game itself). But this all depends on your tastes, Pick the system that will have the most titles you want (appart from VF5) balanced with a price that you feel is truly worth it. I'll likely be buying the 360 version even before I get a 360, and waiting patiently for the 360's price to drop (using a neighbor's 360 in the meantime).

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention - VF5 on the PS3 is the version B of the arcade, meaning that it hopefully will have a lot of the kinks out.
But it being Sega, who knows...

*shrugs* If there are any major bugs on either of the console releases, I'm sure they would just release a patch to fix them.
