So, the guy who made Ikachan and Cave Story decided to make a shoot-em-up. Although it is not completely finished, it is still very fun and professionally executed. Personally, I'd describe it as a mix between Aleste and Radiant Silvergun. The graphics and music in general make me think Aleste-- the solid gameplay is reminiscent of Radiant. Despite complaints, I actually like how your ship moves slowly, and I enjoy the simplicity of the weapons, as well as the audible cues when an enemy is about to shoot. It really has good balance. It has that same tactical feel as Radiant. Anyway, grab it here if you haven't already: homepage2.nifty.com/rochet/storage/guxt_0800.zipI've only gotten to stage 4, but I'm sure I'll make it a bit further if I take the time to play it for more than 15 minutes.

Ugh, the bullets are the same color as the background on the first stage. Also a lot of cheap hits from behind. I'll stick with Cave Story for now.

Yeah, what the heck is with the monochrome anyway? I guess Pixel wants to stick with it though, that's probably why there are sounds warning you when an enemy is firing. Personally, I'd enjoy a little color but... hey... it's not my game.

I like it.
Anyone catch the Ikachan bonus in the first stage? It's on the right side of the screen before the check point.

I don't see a problem with the colours, I can see the shots just fine. And yes, I saw that Ikachan, though I couldn't catch it.
