I saw this magazine at Barnes and Noble tonight. I forgot it existed. It's a good read but it's a european magazine ( I guess uk based)
Anyone else see it? I would like to subscribe but.......not sure if I can.
Good article on the Saturn in the issue I saw

I remember they had a free disc with a bunch of homebrew shmups. One of the games was G-Type, which was a combination of R-Type and Gradius. I really wish I had picked it up.

Saw it once on a trip to Cyprus, of all places, there was this gigantic kiosk filled with magazines on one end, and the other was just your usual drinks and snacks.

I can see about ripping the CD sometime. Retro Gamer is a great magazine, but it's a bit too...European focused, I guess. There's a lot of stuff about the Spectrum and Amiga and other computers which weren't terribly popular over here. I started gaming with the SMS/NES era, so it's hard to be nostalgic for it. I wish there was an American equivalent that focused on other fields.

I wish there was an American equivalent that focused on other fields. Perhaps it's something we should all look into.

I used to pick this magazine up every month, but it's pretty expensive (since it's imported). Subscribing to it will save you no money over just buying it every month at your local bookstore.
It's very cool and as mentioned above focuses a lot on Spectrum. When I was growing up we were into the Commodore 64 and Atari ST and I remember being amazed at the Amiga screenshots on the backs of the boxes of the game I picked up, so it's neat to read about that.
There are some articles that are wastes of time imo. The desert island disks feature is pretty dull- they ask developers, etc what games they would take on a desert island. They often have articles where they will look all over for a decent arcade and will find nothing! For a while they were filling up pages at the back of the magazine with old video game ads which seemed a waste of space to me.

I get this every month, along with gamesTM. IMO the best two videogame magazines out there in print form.

I love Retro Gamer, easily my favorite mag, as like the guys who do the mag, I grew up playing games on the early PC system (Commodore 64 in my case).
Being Australian, the UK style magazine doesn't really seem that "foreign" to me...of course, it probabaly helps when that back when I was a teenager, the only games/PC magazines I read were from the UK (I Still can't stand US mags...they just seem to have too many ads)

If I could afford it, I'd buy two copies a month and post 'em! ^_^

I have to say it's my favorite mag, too. It's so hard to come by, though. The only place that carries it around here is Barnes and Noble and they only get a couple of issues so I have to get them before they're gone...

I love Retro Gamer. I started gaming on a Vic-20, and being Aussie, we were pretty big on the 8-bit PC's out here too. I've only missed, literally, two issues of RG (which irks the crap out of me). I grew up reading mostly UK and Aussie game mags, with sprinklings of US [edit] mags here and there... I have quite an extensive game mag collection... i can't seem to pass them up! Great magazine, and mad bonus points to them for calling the Mega Drive the MEGA DRIVE
