..........with their cross overs? There is so much they could have done. Sports game pitting the 2 sides against each other,an SRPG ala Namco X Capcom.
The Fighters were just ok, the NGPC game probably had the best roster of all the games with SVC Chaos in 2nd place (but SVC chaos feels unfinished) CVS1 and 2 were Blah and the rosters sucked.
Thoughts?

I liked both CVS1 & 2, but it did feel like they were slapped together for the sake of it. DS Cardfighters should be awesome though. I keep debating putting the original on an emulator.

No, CvS 2 was pretty good. The others...kinda mediocre.
Also, why would a fighting game fan play sports games? And while Card Fighters Clash was an excellent game, how many fans made the transfer? If you don't already at least like like card battle games, CFC won't change your mind.
Namco vs Capcom would've been much better as a fighting game...or at least a better SRPG.

SNK made some damn find Baseball games in their day. Think about it an arcady baseball game with teams made up of rosters from SNK and Capcom games.
I don't play sports games but I'd buy that.

That'd be a very niche market though... Not quite the same as say, DOA Beach Volleyball. Any fool can see the marketing value in large breasts.

Mediocre? SNK VS. Capcom: Match of the Millenium is, for me, infinitly superior to Capcom's VS. games. SVC Chaos: SNK VS. Capcom was a disapointment. It simply did not play very well. It was good, but not fantastic. And loss of meter for wiffing throws? WTH? CFC is the best card based video game ever made, if you ask me. I would say that Capcom did ok with their SNK related games, but I never liked their super hero games much. SNK made their VS. games at their peak, and it shows.

Oh...yeah...When I was talking "mediocre", I was mostly referring the other arcade ones (CvS, SvC Chaos). Match of the Millenium is indeed far radder than a handheld fighting game has any right to be.
Oddly enough, it also has a far better soundtrack than any of the crossover games either company did.

CvS2 is indeed a great (playing) game. I like Capcoms take on the SNK characters. However, backgrounds and music are both dull.
On the other hand, SvC has some fantastic backgrounds and a great soundtrack but very dull gameplay (at tournament levels I have read it is broken). It's fun to play with friends non seriously though, and the SNK versions of the classic Capcom characters are great.

I heard SNK made almost no money of CVS 1 and 2 as most of the profits went to capcom.

I want to like Chaos if only because you can play as the Red Arremer.

Wikipedia confirmed that, and it's also thought to be the main point towards SNK's first demise.

Just to clarify, it was massive losses on NGPC that killed SNK.

...and the decline of the arcade market, and the bootlegging of arcade carts, and the general public indifference towards 2D gaming, and their reluctance to make games that weren't rehashes, and...well, it goes on. It's why they're still struggling now.
I can understand why Capcom reaped most of the profits from CvS 1 and 2. They were the ones who actually made it after all - the characters were just licensed.

I wish Genjuro had been in CVS 2 and More of SNK Grapple characters....that's what killed CVS2 for me......not enough of my favorites.
