Depends on the joystick I guess
given the Dpad is right I can play fighters on just about anything. Even with out the Dpad Mod DR plays just fine on PSP.

That's cool, but I refuse to play a fighting game without a joystick. If you're not using a joystick you have to rely on using the shoulder buttons to do button combos which are very difficult to do with precision on a pad. For example, Circle + Square.
People can get used to playing on pads but it's not the way fighting games were meant to be played and you're definitely not going to be playing as well as you could with a good stick.

I use Saturn pads or saturn style pads my self I can't use anything else. I HATE Candy sticks for 2d fighters and really can only play some 3d fighters with a Stick everything else I need a 6 button pad for.
