I thought the majority of people were kidding, judging by some comments like "half-kidding" and the like, but I could be mistaken.
It would be cool if they made a Mario & Sonic RPG, though many would argue that it would be purely fan service.
That's kinda what I thought, but I don't know if casual gamers would exactly dig the idea either. Granted, it would generate sales regardless just because of WHO we're talking about here (Mario & Sonic).

It will be more along the lines of Wii sports... several fleshed out games... not many button mashing games. I believe you can put your fears to rest. I'd be annoyed too if it were something like Mario Party, where the character you pick doesn't matter at all... but I believe this will be something different. We just need to wait and see, or at least learn some new information, before whining and complaining like the rest of the internet.

Sonic will beat mario in just about any event unless they include a spaghetti eating contest.

No, I don't have to Ninja. Actually, lemme correct that. If it has Mario, and it involves sports, its going to suck.
Items? Check. Random events that randomly fuck people up and cause them to lose the game? Check. Rubberbanded computer? Check.

I mean they are by no means simulations of the sports but they are all a lot of fun, especially multi-player. Oh ninjarygar, I was joking but I would laugh my ass off for hours if they released the game I proposed.

No. None of them. I'm not awfully keen on the idea of Bowser randomly dropping out of fat-air and then mauling everyone in the immediate vicinity. Aside from Smash Brothers, I'm not really fond of any of the Mario multplayer games.
Tennis wasn't my thing. Golf was boring. And Strikers, as I just mentioned, has a tendency to bone you when you least expect it.
Mario Party, while it isn't in the vein of the sports games, is heavily dependant upon luck. You can win every game, collect every star, and then someone can chance-time you at the last moment and you're instantly in fourth place.
Kart...is alright. But I'm not fond of the rubber-banded items. Plus, getting slammed with a Blue Shell a few seconds after you reach first place is just incredibly irritating.
If people like these games, more power to them. I'd rather just play fighting games. They tend to be more about skill than dumb luck.

I guess my post did seem a bit...... direct.... but it's just.....
I get a little sick and tired when big name game companies announce something orignal and everybody hates it immediately. Then it comes out... and everybody totally loves it.. It's like.... the opposite of being overhyped. I always think back to WindWaker.... or say... Metroid Prime. When first heard about... nobody would shut up about this and that... then it comes out and everybody pretends like they didn't act like assholes on the internet for a few months.
Honestly, I think it's a good idea. It beats the alternatives... would you rather a platformer that tries to combine the two worlds into one, making a huge fan-fictiony mess? Or would you rather a Sonic vs Mario fighting game like the thousands of AWFUL flash movies/mugen videos out there? I wouldn't. I like the idea that they're trying to come up with something everyone will enjoy... the bottom line is, we just have to wait and see how it turns out.

I can understand that, but with the way I've been consistantly disappointed with each Sonic game its hard to keep the faith. Or have any for that matter.
The other thing is that I'm tired of the Mario Sports series. It's always the same formula: take a sport, remove the rules, add items, and you have yourself a new game. Maybe this one will be different, but I really won't get my hopes up.
Plus...Mario versus Sonic in a 100 mile dash? Hardly seems fair.

I don't know how this game will turn out, but my friends and I will probably make 1,500 drinking games out of it.
I'm also eager to see Robotnik ice-curling.

Miyamoto is working on it. Also the game is being created by Sega Sports not Sonic Team. It might actualy be an awesome game.

Like they would see the trouble getting rights to use the Olympics logo just for an April's Fools joke?
